Dear EU Friends,

For a review of The Thunderbolts Project activity over the past year, please see the brief summary below.

In considering this progress, achieved at minimal cost, we hope you will also consider a year-end donation.  Our consistently low overhead means that any support you might provide will go directly into project activity, making a measurable difference in our public impact.  This activity includes regular publication such as the “Picture of the Day,” continuous YouTube presentations, a wide-ranging forum, an annual conference, and expanding liaison with centers of influence in the U.S and around the world.

From the beginning of The Thunderbolts Project more than 20 years ago, we’ve resolved to never become known as a “fund-raising” organization. That’s why we’ve limited our mention of funding issues to once or twice a year. There are two donation options available: a monthly pledge through Patreon that is used for video production or a one-time or monthly contribution that goes toward all of our activities including overhead.

Now we are looking ahead to a blockbuster year in 2017!

The Thunderbolts Project—Retrospect and Prospect

Over the past 12 months, we’ve enjoyed a net gain of more than 17,000 subscribers to The Thunderbolts Project YouTube Channel. For perspective on this statistic, in 2012 we had a total of 3,000 subscribers acquired over the previous three years. Today we have more than 74,000 subscribers to our Channel, and we recently surpassed 13 million aggregate views of our videos. It’s fair to say we’ve even surprised ourselves!

Thanks to the tireless work of our volunteer Communication Director Susan Schirott, we now have over 15 thousand people following The Thunderbolts Project on Facebook. Virtually the entire group signed up in just the past three years. And if we include the numbers of people following other “Electric Universe” pages and groups on Facebook, the figure is significantly higher than that.

We will, of course, have another annual conference next year.  EU2017
is scheduledfor the Phoenix area again, August 17-20 at the Sheraton Mesa Wrigleyville (same location as last year). We’ve also added another day to the event to accommodate the growing interest.

One of the high points will be a special “Velikovsky Day.”  This full-day event will bring together the best available witnesses to the impact of Immanuel Velikovsky’s work. The moderator will be William Mullen, retired professor of Classics, Bard College, with whom we’ve worked since the publication of the Pensée magazine series “Velikovsky Reconsidered” from 1972 to 1974. Look for details on EU2017 in January.

FEATURED YOUTUBE VIDEOS OF THE WEEK
HANNES TAGER: History of the Electric Comet Theory | Thunderbolts Podcast

Our guest today is Dr. Hannes Tager, who has done significant historical research into the origins and the evolution of the electrical concepts of comets, going back hundreds of years. Hannes’ investigation has not only revealed remarkable facts on the origins of the electric comet theory,. . .
Michael Clarage: SAFIRE as Astrophysical Laboratory | EU2016

The SAFIRE chamber is a tool to understand how electricity manifests in solar systems. Sometimes we will start with something observed in nature, “out there”, then see if we can replicate that in the chamber. At other times we will take what we are seeing in the chamber to guide us in reinterpreting the wealth of data . . .

Smoke Without Fire, Part One by Rens van der Sluijs
Dec 19, 2016

From a study of ancient sources, the catastrophist polymath Immanuel Velikovsky (1895-1979) famously concluded that the planet Venus had presented a comet-like appearance just a few millennia ago.
Smoke Without Fire, Part Two by Rens van der Sluijs

Whatever the explanation, it would seem that Venus’ ‘smoking’ is the same as its ‘burning’ and that such incidents – regarded as portents – occurred throughout the historical period on a decadal or centennial time scale, ruling out any dramatic scenarios such as Velikovsky’s Venus comet.
