Aside from the fact that NASA continues to try to dumb down *electromagnetism* to "magnetism", I found this high resolution image of the magnetic field patterns of the Whirlpool galaxy to be quite interesting. They show that galaxies have a somewhat messy and rather chaotic current flow pattern.

SOFIA has been upgraded with new device:
Magnetic ‘Highway’ Channels Material Out of Cigar Galaxy
"... the wind drags the magnetic field..." What does that mean?
Cigar Galaxy (also called M82)SOFIA’s newest instrument, the High-resolution Airborne Wideband Camera-Plus, or HAWC+, uses far-infrared light to observe celestial dust grains, which align along magnetic field lines. From these results, astronomers can infer the shape and direction of the otherwise invisible magnetic field. Far-infrared light provides key information about magnetic fields because the signal is clean and not contaminated by emission from other physical mechanisms, such as scattered visible light. - Weighing Galactic Wind Provides Clues to Evolution of Galaxies

"Our laws of force tend to be applied in the Newtonian sense in that for every action there is an equal reaction, and yet, in the real world, where many-body gravitational effects or electrodynamic actions prevail, we do not have every action paired with an equal reaction." — Harold Aspden

Their so called "magnetic highway" is the *unscientific* term for a "Birkeland current". The *current*(wind) generates(drags) the magnetic field. That's what they *actually* mean, but of course since "Birkeland currents" and electric fields and plasma currents are forbidden terms in mainstream publications, they dumb it all down to magnetism and make up goofy unscientific terms to avoid using the *correct* scientific terms and concepts for what they're observing.Solar wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 7:36 pm SOFIA has been upgraded with new device:

Astronomy today is completely electophobic. As a result, they just make up irrational unscientific terms, and the intentionally or unintentionally misrepresent the actual physics involved. It's not "wind", it's *current*. The current doesn't "drag" the magnetic field, it *creates/generates* the magnetic field. It's not a "magnetic highway,", is a "Birkeland current". That's what they *actually* mean.
If astronomers understood anything at all about plasma physics, they'd use the proper scientific terms to describe these events in space and they'd understand how to apply circuit theory to these sorts of observations. Instead they peddle what Alfven called "pseudoscience' till the day he died, and they try to the misuse his MHD theory to give it an air of mathematical credibility.
