Wal describes the double layers as containing all the energies within the sun,
until it escapes via sun spots, flares and CME's, etc.
He then talks of an electric DISCHARGE without details of the circuit within which it happens.
Where I separate from his EU model is I want to get away from the linear
circuit model and language of anode, cathode, discharge etc.
I would use a CELL model where the drift currents(of Dr. Scott) collect at the sun, and the chromosphere
traps a portion of the photosphere plasma, and turns back a portion of the incoming plasma.
The steady parts of the sun ( the quiet sun photosphere qualities) are set by the physical size of the inner core of the sun
and it's charge holding capacity. The more volatile corona is due to the incoming plasma colliding with the turned back (by the chromosphere Double layer) plasma.
More details are in my posts on the chromosphere as a double layer.
