Lithium generated by excess charge in a star?

Post by Drethon » Wed Nov 11, 2009 11:40 am

I had mostly just smiled like usual when reading one of these articles http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/0 ... anets.html until I noticed that they found a large amount of lithium in stars with no planets and a low amount in starts with planets.

This made me wonder if what they are observing is actually lithium being generated in stars that have excess charge and the stars that have expelled this charge as planets no longer have as much lithium. This theory kind of breaks down with the consideration of a star that already has planets would still be capable of generating excess charge and producing another planet but I still wonder if there is some relationship...
