There was some hope in the news article, that perhaps just maybe they would see what is right in front of them. But alas I am depressed again that this small crack in the dogma was quickly covered over and forgotten by the end.

I can easily pick many several self-inflicted falicies, but the most bizarre I think is saved for one whopper of a what the ...?
I believe what they are trying to say is that 1TW Birkeland currents is being generated by a molten iron river which is also bless with the qualities of 'Jet' like the Plasma Jet. It's 2,000m deep and 261m wide and "currently headed towards Europe".
My barf bag is near, I feel something coming...
"the outer core create movements and whirlpools in the liquid metal, and together with Earth's spin, they generate electric currents, which in turn produce magnetic fields."
My bag overflows...
""Further surprises are likely," ESA's Swarm mission manager, Rune Floberghagen,"
Why am I not surprised at all.

Re: Supersonic Plasma Jets - Maintstream fails again
It's almost certainly due to Global WarmingBack in December, the ESA team announced that their Swam satellites had detected an accelerating river of molten iron some 3,000 km (1,864 miles) below the surface of Earth, under Alaska and Siberia.
They found that this 420-km-wide (260-mile) jet stream had tripled in speed in less than two decades, and is currently headed towards Europe.

Those two paragraphs is the section I was about quote.
Discovered last December... it has tripled it's speed in less than two decades?
They didn't know about it two decades ago, so how do they know fast it was travelling then?
They must of checked the speeds in the interval between December and March and backwards calculated the speed 20 years ago from that.
Except, they say, right at the end of the article,

So they are admitting, they don't even know the direction 2 decades ago."The magnetic field is forever changing, and this could even make the jet stream switch direction."

"the outer core create movements and whirlpools in the liquid metal, and together with Earth's spin, they generate electric currents, which in turn produce magnetic fields."
Or causing it. LOL If this "river of molten iron" has tripled in speed, why is it the same "Swarm" satellites are finding the Earth's magnetic field becoming weaker? The devices I am familiar with that "generate electric currents, which in turn produce magnetic fields" don't work that way. LOL We all know as generator speed increases, generator output increases.sketch1946 wrote:It's almost certainly due to Global WarmingBack in December, the ESA team announced that their Swam satellites had detected an accelerating river of molten iron some 3,000 km (1,864 miles) below the surface of Earth, under Alaska and Siberia.
