"Our chance of finding alien life is greater than ever"

Has science taken a wrong turn? If so, what corrections are needed? Chronicles of scientific misbehavior. The role of heretic-pioneers and forbidden questions in the sciences. Is peer review working? The perverse "consensus of leading scientists." Good public relations versus good science.

The chance of discovering alien life is greater than ever thanks to improving technology, Britain's leading astronomer said today.

Lord Rees, the president of the Royal Society and Astronomer Royal, believes new space telescopes will help us focus our search because they are capable of detecting earth-like planets around distant stars.

Well, let me speculate again; I'm sure that these soon-to-be-discovered and intelligent outerspace beings are traveling on the basis of plasma mechanics. Remember that 99% of the known universe is ... plasma...

Hi MrAmsterdam,
You don't have to be rocket scientist to work out that the better your detection equipment, the better your chances of detecting what you are looking for. :D

Anyway it's from the Daily Mail so can be filed under pap for the masses.

And new telescopes need more funding. As long as the A.R. starts looking through the proper end of his telescopes :D :D

I only hope that the aliens have a big enough budget to buy the best telescope in universe and detect us first. :D
