CBC's Ideas on "How to think about Science"

Has science taken a wrong turn? If so, what corrections are needed? Chronicles of scientific misbehavior. The role of heretic-pioneers and forbidden questions in the sciences. Is peer review working? The perverse "consensus of leading scientists." Good public relations versus good science.

CBC's Ideas on "How to think about Science"

Post by Floyd415 » Fri Jul 03, 2009 12:58 am

As a layman who studied has studied history and philosophy, I thought I would share an interesting series of radio programs as my introduction to this board. Has anyone heard of CBC Radio's Ideas show? And specifically their series on "How to think about Science" This series chronicles a collection of inquiries into the methods of science itself ranging across many subjects. As I was walked around my university campus this past year, stocking vending machines for extra money, I listened to this 20+ hour program.
A few months later in May 2009 I ran across thunderbolts.info. The theories presented by Thornhill, Scott, and Talbott instantly struck with me as a topic that should be included in CBC's Ideas on "How to Think about Science," and I wondered if anyone has contacted "Ideas" about EU/PC.

Before my prose at this late hour (and, admittedly somewhat high % consumption, (alright I'm a lurker turned buzzed-poster)) becomes too effusive and incomprehensible, I would merely like to say that EU/PC theories have rarely left my headspace since I first stumbled upon them. Previously I had rarely pondered astrophysics and astronomy as I have never had much penchant for considering math beyond the high-school level.

cheers, Floyd

I love CBC Ideas.
8-)

A radio show on CBC would be great.

It was on Coast to Coast that I found the EU in Dec 2006.

I asked the EU team to put a one page ad in Astronomy Monthly like the Null Physics book.
I think that the Electric Sky and the EU book would do very well in that venue.
