Velikovsky the Unsung Genius
I am a big fan of Dr. Velikovsky. My recollection is that he predicted the temperature of Venus to be very high at a time when the accepted view was Venus was similar to earth. Because he did not give a specific temperature he was not given credit when the temp of Venus came in around 700-800 degrees Celsius.

Re: Velikovsky the Unsung Genius
I've gotten a whole new appreciation watching youtube videos about him;
this one gave me an understanding of how he inspired that generation, to look beyond settled science for better answers.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science,
the one that heralds new discoveries,
is not 'Eureka!' but 'That's funny...'

Er... this is the TPOD forum.
I think you've posted in the wrong forum (maybe a moderator will move it).
But as regards to Immanuel Velikovsky,
I discovered and read his books in about the early eighties, not too long after I left school.
I loved his books, but they also made me so pissed off.
My reasoning was, even if Velikovsky was wrong, we should still have been made aware of him, and his theories.
Because deep down I knew he was at least mostly right, because he presents the evidence in a scholarly fashion.
Then was when I woke to the fact that we are educated to ignorance, by our "advanced" civilization.
And I wondered who else our schooling system kept away from us.
It wasn't until recently, when I came across the Thunderbolts group, and the Electric Universe theory, that I began to hear his name again.
It was pleasing to find others who have heard of him, and give him the credit he deserves.
