The following quote is from

What are your opinions regarding whether this "proton-rich downpour" could contribute to formation of H2O in Earth's atmosphere?
PROTONS ARE RAINING DOWN ON EARTH: A solar proton storm is in progress on Aug. 25th as energetic particles from the sun rain down on Earth's upper atmosphere. The proton-rich downpour is coming from a phalanx of active sunspots emerging over the sun's eastern limb. So far this is only a minor event (category S1), posing no threat to astronauts or air travelers.

Possibly. And also contributing towards the production of heavier elements, abiotic oil, etc. as they penetrate into the Earth.

I'm not sure if this also, is augmented by the proton rain. But there are at least 8 x 10 to the 12 muons which are more like electrons also raining down. I have been curious about these mu as well because they have a short half life so maybe they don't affect the over all charge balance much?
