As for the answer, read the article and you’ll see that they don’t even try to provide an answer. They just offer *hope* that one of the many experiments they continue to make taxpayers support will pan out. And offer this piece of *wisdom* in case none of them do … “each unsuccessful experiment is hopefully one step closer to finding dark matter.” As for the reason we need to know about dark matter in the first place, here’s what the article says … “The reason to understand what dark matter is to understand the universe.”
