Yes, there are tales (racial memories) of a time when there was no Moon visible in the sky.
The linked article by Velikovsky was written in the 1940's. The maroon colored footnotes were added later by an editor (Jan Sammer).

Here is an AI Overview on "Proselenes" (a people whose name means "before the Moon")
AI wrote:The "Proselenes" (προσέληνοι), or "pre-lunar" people, were the ancient Greeks of the Peloponnese, particularly the Arcadians, who believed they existed before the moon. This belief was often interpreted as meaning they were either older than the moon or lived in a period before the moon appeared in the sky.

I saw a video that said there are ancient cultures that tell of a time before the moon. Is this true?
