What are the blue lines in this weather radar map image? I was just now checking out the weather and came across that.
https://ibb.co/jRb20bX It came from this weather site: https://weather-radar-live.com/
They're long blue lines maybe 50 miles long or more.
They're very narrow at one end and a little bit wider at the far end.
They look like thunderstorm clouds, except for being straight and long.
Is somebody trying to make rain?
Or is it just a computer glitch or something?
Looks like they're mostly in Ontario province, Canada, north of New York.
They might be radar scans, but why would they show up on the map just in that area?
I see now that there are a few similar lines in other places, viz. Alberta, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Poland, Hungary & Romania.
It looks like some of them are turning into rain storms.
For example, see some of these blue lines in Spain: https://ibb.co/SsY4HZf
What the heck are these lines on Weather Map?

One thing is, usually the lines will point to a radar dome. There are lots of them around too. I often see these types of signatures as interference and not something the radar is really sensing. Usually..
interstellar filaments conducted electricity having currents as high as 10 thousand billion amperes

Thanks for the reply. I'm not confident you're right, but oh well. I noticed that what that site shows as precipitation is inaccurate. A blob of blue came over at this location a few days ago and there was no rain. It was just thick clouds. It may be that just yellow or red indicates rain. So I switched back to Accuweather at https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/natio ... ther-radar
