Sun Emits A Massive CME

Unread post by nick c » Fri Mar 24, 2023 2:43 pm

On March 12, 2023 the Sun erupted with a large Coronal Mass Ejection (CME).
Fortunately, there was not a direct hit on the Earth. This CME is estimated to have been much worse than the one that struck the Earth in 1859, known as the Carrington Event. That resulted in the collapse of telegraph systems around the world. The havoc caused in 1859 would be miniscule compared to the what would happen today.

"And what about our poor sun, victimized by its very nature?"

Too much of this kind of article, and the sun might become the next global warming enemy. What does that look like? All of a sudden, if you get a tan, you're a 'Sun Denier'.
