I was told earlier on this thread not to judge so quickly.
But today I notice this updated article on the web ...
https://www.unitymining.com.au/dark-mat ... australia/
Seems they are still advertising the wonders of the Stawell DM project.
I notice this article says …
Australia has opened one of the few laboratories in the world capable of detecting mysterious dark matter that has never been seen and little understood.
So now they tell us that only a few laboratories are capable of detecting DM. Could we get a list so we know which ones to actually fund? Because it seems that every institution in the world is searching for DM. If they aren’t capable of detecting it, we need to now to save a little money in these hard times.
I also notice the article says this …
The depth of SUPL means that cosmic noise has been filtered out and the dark matter signal can be detected, which has already been achieved in a laboratory in Italy, but now it is necessary to confirm the result in the Southern Hemisphere.
I'm surprised they are still claiming the Italians have a signal they think is DM. The only claim I know of that sort is from 2020 when there were big announcements everywhere in the mainstream media … like this one …
https://www.scientificamerican.com/arti ... akthrough/ “Physicists Announce Potential Dark Matter Breakthrough”. But that claim was ruled out back in 2021. Have they not heard?
Even the Xenon website reported on Oct 18, 2022 that
https://twitter.com/XENONexperiment/sta ... 7239032832 "XENON shows that a tantalizing signal reported in 2020 was due to background noise rather than new physics." Here’s the paper they published on that:
https://physics.aps.org/articles/v15/159. It states "XENON shows that a tantalizing signal reported in 2020 was due to background noise rather than to new physics and sets stringent limits on various dark matter types that had been invoked to explain such a signal. The PandaX Collaboration performed a similar measurement, also detecting no events over the expected background."
So it looks to me like Australia built their multi-million dollar SUPL facility based on a false signal. Just saying …
