Reading today's APOD — https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap210718.html; Andromeda Galaxy in Ultraviolet — I was surprised: I always thought M31 was 120,000 light-years wide and there it says M31 spans about 230,000 light-years. I went searching for info on the matter and eventually I came to this site: https://astronomy.com/news/2020/09/warn ... hey-appear.

And then I was really surprised.
