Mountains of Evidence

Hundreds of TPODs have been published since the summer of 2004. In particular, we invite discussion of present and recent TPODs, perhaps with additional links to earlier TPOD pages. Suggestions for future pages will be welcome. Effective TPOD drafts will be MORE than welcome and could be your opportunity to become a more active part of the Thunderbolts team.

Mountains of Evidence

Unread post by MtnMisty » Mon Aug 15, 2011 1:53 pm

The wonderful article about Jean-Jaques D'Ortous de Mairan's take on plasma mythology got me to thinking about historical auroral activity. As a lay person with a life long love/interest in geology, I understand that we can somewhat map the historical magnetic poles and such. Is it possible to calculate/guesstimate ancient auroral activity given the knowledge of past magnetic activity and solar activity? And, would that guesstimate take into account pole wandering (and/or even polar shifts, for that matter) to figure who might have seen what and where in regards to long ago aurora borealis? Interesting stuff.
