I saw some videos on Common Core, and it seems really bad for the future
generation of our scientists.
It is designed to make children follow silly procedures and accept authority.
It discourages children from doing stuff logically, and from their own intelligence.
So children who are smart and can find things out for themselves, have more problems.
This will be a huge problem for the future.
Now it seems that this system is already partially in place in the structure of science.
Students and PhDs are discouraged to do stuff their own way, or to come up
with own theories. Not because they are wrong, but because the school-system
does not allow new ways or new theories.
If you do not follow the consensus or authority figures, you have to work very hard.
I personally learned a lot by doing stuff my own (but still correct) way,
and could explain that to the teachers that were grading me.
But if I stopped thinking and just answered what they wanted to hear,
things were a lot easier.
I got really disappointed in the way the system discouraged good ideas.
I would have liked a platform for discussing and working out such ideas.
Another problem was that the different specialisations had different ideas on
the same subject. They using different methods with the same problem.
Which in some cases were in conflict with each other.
That is because there is a big difference between theory and practice.
So the scientists used simplified (or wrong) models for the things that they had not studied.

Add the student loan problem, and I doubt whether there will be any good scientists in the future in the US.
