Dr. Judith Curry Explains "The Republic of Science"

Has science taken a wrong turn? If so, what corrections are needed? Chronicles of scientific misbehavior. The role of heretic-pioneers and forbidden questions in the sciences. Is peer review working? The perverse "consensus of leading scientists." Good public relations versus good science.

Dr. Judith Curry Explains "The Republic of Science"

Unread post by Zyxzevn » Fri Jun 10, 2016 11:27 am

Youtube video
Dr. Judith Curry is a climatologist and former chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology who went from the "high priestess of global warming" to a "climate heretic" after realizing she had been duped by the IPCC. Today she joins us to talk about her recent breakdown of Michael Polanyi's 1962 article "The Republic of Science." Topics discussed include the science/policy nexus, the breakdown of the old norms of scientific research, and how the internet is helping to revolutionize science.
She explains how money and government influence science.
Additionally she describes how many scientists publish catchy (but faulty) articles,
just to get a lot of fame in the media.

Judith Curry is a politician and not a scientist. She is a fence sitter on every scientific issue she's ever been associated with and because of that she's managed to excel in the politics of the phony science of climatology. It's great that she is now starting to be honest by revealing the incredibly low scientific standards of climatology and meteorology but that too has more to do with being a fence sitter than it does with actually understanding or caring about scientific issues.
