Plasma vortex?

Many Internet forums have carried discussion of the Electric Universe hypothesis. Much of that discussion has added more confusion than clarity, due to common misunderstandings of the electrical principles. Here we invite participants to discuss their experiences and to summarize questions that have yet to be answered.

In order to speculate what it could be, it'd be nice to have more specific information - more than just, "not in the visible spectrum." :)

My wild guess:
Some type of ionizing cosmic ray impacting the ionosphere, briefly creating a mini-aurora at the impact site.

I assume light emission from an aurora can be anywhere on the EM spectrum, and shouldn't be limited to visible light.
Is my assumption here correct?

He said he was viewing in infa-red and ultraviolet. Thanks for the reply, that is along the same lines I was thinking.
