Resources for the layman

Unread post by Heftruck » Tue Apr 08, 2008 5:36 pm

I'm not really sure where to post this thread but this subforum looks appropriate enough. Forgive me if it's not.

Anyway, I've been reading about EU-theory for about half a year now and while I have the impression that I can grasp the basic concepts being presented here, I'm pretty much left in the dark about anything that goes beyond layman explanations and into technical mumbo-jumbo. I really haven't got a clue about physics, electricity, plasma (highschoolscience always left me in confusion), etc but I'd really like to dive right into the stuff. So this isn't really a strictly EU-question.

I would be very thankful if someone could explain me which things I should learn about first to crash-course myself into the ability to understand at least some part of what's being explained here. That's starting from practically no knowledge in any particular field related to EU (I have strong doubts about the usefulness of economics here :P ).

I'd suggest, if you haven't already, to take a look at the videos/mp3's referenced here: EU-Related YouTube Videos (a topic in this same section), particularly the last couple of posts by MGmirkin.

Good luck! (and with compassion :) ),

Haha, I've seen those. ;)

I really just need directions to the science that helps me develop a deeper understanding. ;)

As another entry point have you checked out these resources, then?

They will all, or individually, steer to you further study resources etc.

The thing I liked about Plasma Cosmology.net is that it's organized in such a way as to 'walk' you through some of the most prominent aspects. I would recommend reading the whole site a step at a time and take notes!! Just follow the links on the left-hand side.

Then go to the TPOD Subject Index with questions from your notes or concepts you want to look into more deeply. And never be shy of posting question as someone will always help you out and it exposes you to a diversity of opinions (interdisciplinary approach).
