Some newbie questions

Unread post by David Bailey » Fri Jun 13, 2014 1:23 pm

Hi,

I am new here, and I'd just like to ask a few dumb questions:

1) Do I take it that in quiet periods the orbits of the planets are governed by the laws of gravitation, or is it claimed that there is a significant electrostatic component to the motion?

2) Is it claimed that there are NO nuclear reactions going on in the stars - so that the formation of the elements becomes an open problem. Also, the sun does produce some neutrinos - suggesting some fusion is occurring.

3) Is there a (free or cheap) book at a slightly higher level than Tom Findlay's book - something that contains some relevant equations and numerical data?

4) How do I change my password!

David
