Thanks, Harry. That explains the terminology. Looking at multi-year records of the signal, and positing that there should be such modulation by solar blocking would never have occurred to me! That's why I asked, of course. There's no such thing as a stupid question, until the third or fourth time I ask it.

How does the Sun modulate the dark matter flux, in this scenario? Is it attracted to the sun gravitationally, like observable matter, so when the Earth is eclipsed by the sun with respect to, say, the galactic center, is the flux a lot lower? Or would radially traveling dark matter grazing the Sun "fill in" behind the Sun, via gravitational refraction, similar to the umbra and penumbra situation in a lunar eclipse? Why is there not dark matter coming from all directions rather than from a favored direction which is periodically blocked or modulated by the Sun?

Over time, is the Sun supposed to be increasing in mass due to accretion of dark matter? While dark matter is not visible (i.e., does not interact with ordinary matter in any way that radiates in our electro-magnetic spectrum, do they think it can react chemically (ionically) as it interacts gravitationally? Are there signs anywhere that this is occurring, and what sort of signs could those be? The presence of dark matter still seems to be a very elusive thing to pin down! However, it's still early days, mate.

G'day JJ

Most of the matter in the universe is made up of sub matter it has a memory to go back to normal matter as per E=MC^2.

So!!!!! so called dark matter is what makes up quaks, that make up Neutrons and so on.

Dark matter dark energy in the past had been used in fantasy land.

There are several mechanisms for normal matter breaking down to submatter and submatter to normal matter.
