There was recent RT article featuring Ball Lighting on cell phone video.

Of course they should have called it a Plasma Ball! Well done :)

I'm still baffled to explain how it happens though, and fathom the scale of the event with a ball 20 or 40ft large.

Spherical or, more appropriately, Toroidally shaped plasma discharges are explained and described in several of the "fundamental EU papers". They are demonstrated also by stellar photgraphs of nebular proportions many times. They have been related to Birkeland Current pinchpoints, and occur at all size scales. Many of the speakers at previous EU conventions have posted both stellar and laboratory photographs, as well as some of the physics that is involved. Credit to Wal Thornhill and Don Scott, among many others. I hope this helps.
