Ok, this is going too far!

From Birkeland's article:

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009 ... ist1065474
Any new physics MMS learns could ultimately help alleviate the energy crisis on Earth.
Are there NO IEEE engineers working with NASA on this project??
For many years, researchers have looked to fusion as a clean and abundant source of energy for our planet," says Burch. "One approach, magnetic confinement fusion, has yielded very promising results with devices such as tokamaks. But there have been problems keeping the plasma (hot ionized gas) contained in the chamber."
"Very promising results"?? How many decades have they been farting around with tokamak reactors, and never overcome the rupture of the double layers of the toroids??
"One of the main problems is magnetic reconnection," he continues. "A spectacular and even dangerous result of reconnection is known as the sawtooth crash. As the heat in the tokamak builds up, the electron temperature reaches a peak and then 'crashes' to a lower value, and some of the hot plasma escapes. This is caused by reconnection of the containment field."

WOW... now they're saying that magnetic fields can "reconnect"??? How do they think a field *disconnects*?? It leaps out of the friggin containment chamber??

This is too much for me. I'm flabbergasted. We need to figure out a way to get someone from the IEEE to publicly fricasee the author of this article, and NASA for publishing it! :x

Color me oversensitive, but this by far is the worst case of misrepresentation of physics I've seen... and I'm not even a physicist!!

It's at once funny and sad. Funny because Eric Lerner's Focus Fusion Device is a Dense Plasma Focus that works with nature by guiding and harnessing the energy released by the exploding DL/collapsing magnetic field of the plasmoid. Sad in the fact that Eric is begging for funding while these jerkoffs struggling against nature go and build a bigger money hole in the National Ignition Facility.

We can save lots of tax money, by just firing all NASA astrophysicists. Only hire EU-certified electrical engineers. :D :D :D :D

From the NASA page, "Something very interesting and fundamental is going on that we don't really understand".

No kidding?

Ass backwards science? Areas of Titan looks very much like some areas on Earth, which they know have been created over a long period, by the action of water. So, the areas that look the same on Titan must have been created by liquid, in this case methane/ethane. Rather, I think what UE proponents see as electrical machining on Titan indicates that the Earth has undergone the same type of electrical activity.

Kudos to Lerner and Focus Fusion.org and Lawrenceville Plasma Physics for NOT begging for government money. You take money from the government and THEY own and control it. This isn't conspiracy theory (even though that word has "piracy" hidden right there in plain sight as a warning) - it's just the business model.

I would rather have inventions like this owned and operated by private, individual investors than by the government, or even by a major investment capital firm, for reasons of flexibility and internal (not external) control of their destiny. I'm all for the new ideas and progress that the "little man" can bring to science, working outside the existing dogmatic models that clog up after a while, when held too tightly .

In addition to the focus fusion device, Stoern's asymmetric magnetic motor-generator concept is showing more promise, at least at a small scale so far, and the Ad Astra ion rocket drive should bring a new standard of efficiency to local (solar system) exploration if they can use a very efficient, long-lived power source and carry enough propellant on board.

And speaking of the "promising" potential of Tokomak style fusion containment "just like goes on in the middle of our Sun", that is what it is called becasue that is what they are doing with all that money: promising results. Results so far: zero W of excess power on the national grid anywhere in the world from Tokomak fusion. Prediction? Embarrassment.

Gravity exists, but electromagnetism rules! :D
