PLEASE READ!

Unread post by davesmith_au » Thu Nov 27, 2008 1:13 am

I have become more than a little annoyed lately at the attitudes and actions of some folk on this forum. We are primarily here to discuss Electric Universe theory and all it entails.

Unavoidably, as with any lightly moderated public forum, people tend to start posting their own ideas and postulations, and we here don't have any strict objection to that so long as those people make it clear they DO NOT speak for the Electric Universe crowd and that they confine such discussions to the lower few boards of the forum. Particularly the New Insights and Mad Ideas board and the Human Question board are appropriate for such discussions, NOT the EU, EU Planetary Science, or such boards.

As those of us with the responsibility of managing the forum are volunteers like everyone else here, we don't always have the time nor inclincation to spend hours per day reading through everyone's posts to ensure folk are being cordial and on-topic. We would like to think those who come here could be mature enough to self-regulate in this regard and not make the forum a place for opinionated nit-picking and pushing of ideas and philosophies which are always going to conflict with those of others in any diverse group.

Particularly, our forum is not a warring ground between those who hold up APM, Aristotle, Ayn Rand, Bhudda, Jesus Christ, Plato or Mickey bloody Mouse as the be-all and end-all of intelligent discussion starting places. People can and do argue about such things until the cows come home without ever coming to agreeable conclusions so it's best to avoid such discussions in the first instance, at least on our forum.

Also it would be very wise for no-one to run around quoting or suggesting any EU proponents hold any particular ideas outside the published data on the Electric Unvierse websites and books in high regard, regardless of what may or may not have been said privately to them. To betray or even misrepresent such confidence can be harmful not only to the movement in general but definitely to the individual relationships some may have with others within the movement. It would be foolhardy to think for a second that Wal Thornhill, Dave Talbott, and Don Scott all agree on everything both philosophical and scientific. For a third party to state what they believe such folk think is even more foolhardy, and could be quite devastating should such be taken as 'the last word' by the wrong parties. So unless one of these (or other) people publically support your position on something or other, best to keep quite on what you think they support, or what you say they privately support, lest you be left with egg on face and credibility down the drain due to misrepresentations or denials.

So to all who seem to think this is a place to air your own ideas about everything without regard for the feelings or beliefs of others, pull your heads in or go elsewhere so the rest of us can get on with discussing what we like to discuss, Electric Universe theory and it's implications.
