In 1913, A. Einstein and O. Stern first proposed the notion of a cosmic heat bath whose function corresponded to their concept of a Zero Point Energy (ZPE) filling up space. Though this early concept of the ZPE was rejected, the 1967 discovery of a microwave cosmic background radiation (mCBR) led to a reformulation of the ZPE hypothesis by stochastic (T. Boyer) and quantum models (H. Puthof, B. Haisch). Modern ZPE theories have in common the notion that the "vacuum state" is an electromagnetic field (ZPF) present even near absolute zero temperature, the ZPF being homogeneous, isotropic and subject to Lorentz invariance.
The Dynamic Aether Theories:
All theories of a dynamic Aether accept the null result of the Michelson-Morley experiment, the lack of Aether drag, and explain that null result by the properties of a massless or massfree Aether.
N. Tesla's Theory of Longitudinal Electric Aether Radiation:
The first attempt at a theory of the dynamic Aether was Nikola Tesla's hypothesis that propagation of electric signals was distinct from the generation of electromagnetic signals, and made the latter possible. Tesla envisioned an electrical Aether having incompressible and radiative properties.

What this is about is the proposition that the physical vacuum must be exclusively some sort of crystalline media. Clearly, if the vacuum, as is well known, supports longitudinal E/M waves, the conditions of the vacuum must perforce also exist in some fluidic, or superfluidic, or some otherwise plastic condition.
In the vacuum, longitudinal waves are energy density waves. That is to say that there is some periodic energy variation created locally in space which results in some variation of the volumetric density of this energy. In other words, space itself may be a product or result of some process and the local energy density of space would be dependent on the parameters of this process. Longitudinal energy density waves in the vacuum, should then create some locally observable change in space or in the structure of some material object located in the region of the wave. This has been demonstrated experimentally.
Energy density waves (EDW) differ from normal E/M. In the longitudinal wave, energy density is modulated in the direction from the generating source to infinity. The velocity of energy density waves is still a matter of inquiry, but if the space (the aether) is considered as at least occasionally having the properties of some manner of solid state matter, it appears highly likely that the velocity of propagation of energy density waves will be found to be some super-luminal or instantaneous velocity.
Mishin concluded that the aether exists in several different states and that the particular state depends on the parameters of the turbulent disturbance (or its temperature). He gave 5 different aether conditions he called aether-1 through aether-5. He referenced aether-1 as a solid state, aether-2 as a dense superfluid liquid, aether-3 was connected with molecular motion as in a gaseous body, aether-4 was similar to the plasma state, and his aether-5 corresponded to galactic processes.
Given all the forgoing, it seems that Tesla's understanding of the aether as fluidic may be accurate for certain species of the various energy-levels of processes in the vacuum.

One of the other main objections people have to the aether model relates to the transmission of transverse waves, a characteristic of light vibration.
If the aether were to be a solid it has been estimated that it would need to have the hardness of steel in order to support transverse waves at the speed of light.
On the other hand gases and liquids don’t normally support transverse waves.
However on closer examination we find that liquids can in fact carry transverse waves. There has been recent experimental evidence in support of this, where it was found that supercooled helium, which becomes superfluid at very low temperatures, transmits transverse sound waves.
As a starting point we will assume the aether to be of a consistency close to a liquid, and occasionally solid such as within nuclear particles.
It would have the ability to flow like a liquid and to carry longitudinal and transverse vibrations.
It is important to note that the aether is not to be considered as separate from other matter but as the substrate within which all particles are formed and through which physical forces are mediated.

You must understand time-reversal and the time-reversed EM wave [Ref 5] itself, including the theory of the phase conjugate mirror and of the pumped phase conjugate mirror (from nonlinear optics.) Yariv [Ref 6] Chapter 16 and Pepper [Ref 7, Ref 8] are key to that understanding.
You should also realize that a time-reversed (TR) wave is seen by the observer in his own "forward time." Hence he sees the wave spatially reversed. In short, he sees the same thing as he would see if a movie -- of the wave expressed as a forward time wave -- were simply reversed. So the TR wave ever-converges on its course, rather than diverges. Convergence is the time-reversal of divergence. Apply similar TR processes to other characteristics of a normal wave, by letting the movie film run backward in your mind. You can recover "order" or "energy" even after it's been scattered in performing work, by phase conjugate reflection. And then you can use it again. Suspiciously similar is a kemi historically significant number of 1296000, which is half that fractal number (25920 / 2 = 12960). For such related numbers not be related would surely represent a matter of coincidence. Many of the historically significant numbers are apparently common in origin, although we no longer know what that common origin may have been. Something similar occurs with the Nineveh constant of 2268. At first glance, the Nineveh constant would appear to be unrelated to the other numbers.
However, if we consider the possibility that the reciprocal of seven (.142857) may have been employed in computations concerning the Great Cycle (ca. 26,000 years) that the Sun travels throughout the Universe, then the numbers may become more comprehensible. In order to consider these possible relationships, let us examine once more the concept of pi ( ), the number of times the diameter of a circle may divide into its circumference. Contemporary measurements/computations cite pi as being 3.141592654 (give or take a few thousand decimal places).
This concept of pi represents the ratio of diameter:circumference. However, if the ancients not only dealt with this particular ratio, but also employed the diameter alone and the circumference alone as a constant, as well as, the possible number of divisions (degrees/segments) that a circle may be divided into, then the ancient concept of pi would be extremely more dynamic than our contemporary view.
