Comet hits Sun, NASA loses SOHO images

Beyond the boundaries of established science an avalanche of exotic ideas compete for our attention. Experts tell us that these ideas should not be permitted to take up the time of working scientists, and for the most part they are surely correct. But what about the gems in the rubble pile? By what ground-rules might we bring extraordinary new possibilities to light?

Comet hits Sun, NASA loses SOHO images

Unread post by Cargo » Tue Aug 20, 2019 4:07 pm

On 8/15 a Comet was reported to have been eaten by the Sun. Plenty of videos of the approach from the wide-field LASCO images. But for some reason, NASA decided, or had a problem, with all the real-time direct Sun images that day.

For all bandwidths, EIT 171, EIT 195,EIT 284, and EIT 304. No images in the archive for 8/15 at all.
