support

The Thunderbolts Project needs your help…

The Thunderbolts Project has, for a good number of years now, gone about it’s business without publically appealing for funds. We have been very fortunate in a number of ways, not the least of which is that those who have been mainstays in the research and experimentation to date have freely donated their time and efforts, and we have enjoyed modest financial support from a not-for-profit educational foundation for many of the basic costs of maintaining our most essential activity.

More and better research

But as the organization has grown and it’s influence has spread, so have the costs of keeping it operating. We are also constantly being encouraged to undertake further research and experimental work, but this type of work must be funded sufficiently if it is to have any real effect.

Secure support payment systems

We are now at the point where we need to increase the funding of Thunderbolts significantly if we are to have the impact desired of us. To this end we have arranged a system of receiving your financial support without having to pay out to some third party much of what is collected in administration fees, which is often the case with many charities.

Please note The Thunderbolts Project is not a registered charity or a business and as such our efforts are funded entirely through generous private support.

We have set up a private fund operated through a PayPal account called ‘thunderboltsfund‘ which can receive your support payments a variety of ways, as outlined below at Option 2.

Practical support

These funds will be used primarily to support the work of our core group by funding experiments, outreach and research efforts which simply cannot be undertaken if we remain unfunded.

You can help support the work of the Thunderbolts Project with a single support payment of any amount of your choice, modest monthly recurring payments, or you may wish to offer practical assistance.

We have allowed for several different ways you can help support us financially.

Option 1. Snail Mail:

You may post a check or Money Order directly to:

The Thunderbolts Project
2315 SE Wren St.
Portland OR 97222

Checks and Money Orders should be made payable to “The Thunderbolts Project” and drawn on a US bank in US funds. Please include a return email address or a stamped self-addressed envelope if you would like confirmation of receipt of your funds.

Option 2. Credit Card/PayPal:

Please note, you DO NOT need a PayPal account to make a single support payment via credit card. Clicking the single support payment button below will take you to a secure PayPal page where you have the option of using PayPal OR a suitable credit card (Visa/Mastercard) for a single payment. For any of the ongoing payments, you will need to create a PayPal account, and can then choose to use your PayPal balance (if any), bank account or credit card for the payments. This is by far the easiest, most secure and preferred way to process your payment.

Single support payment, any amount of your choosing:

US$5.00 monthly recurring payment:

US$10.00 monthly recurring payment:

US$25.00 monthly recurring payment:

US$50.00 monthly recurring payment:

Of course, you can cancel your ongoing support at any time, click the cancel button and follow the instructions:

Option 3. Tax-deductable donations:

Thunderbolts projects have long been supported by a not for profit, educational foundation which is independent of The Thunderbolts Project. By donating to this foundation, you can help them to help us. These donations, if you qualify under IRS regulations, are tax deductible. You can find the rules here:

http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=164997,00.html.

Please make an inquiry if you would like to make a tax deductible donation.

Practical Assistance

Last but by no means least, should you wish to offer physical support in some way, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We are often on the lookout for help with some of the many projects we are currently involved in or considering. Should you have any skills or knowledge which you think may be of assistance to us and you would like to help, drop us a line outlining your background and any areas where you think you could offer hands-on support.

First point of contact in this instance would be Dave Smith.

Thunderboltsfund Administration

The ‘thunderboltsfund’ (Option 2 above) is under the management of Dave Smith, whose name the private account is in. All decisions as to disbursement of funds will be made jointly by agreement of no less than three of four fund administrators, namely Dave Smith, David Talbott, Michael Armstrong and Wal Thornhill.

As Thunderbolts has no bureaucratic organizational structure nor a business name registered, this is the most cost-effective manner in which to operate the fund. In fact, it is assured that all funds donated (except around 6% PayPal admin fee) will go directly towards furthering the work of The Thunderbolts Project without the need for paying out costly administration fees to third party organizations or managers.

No persons shall draw any salary from the fund. A portion will on occasion be paid to volunteers involved in various projects to reimburse them for expenses such as online costs, equipment/materials and the like, as is deemed appropriate by the fund administrators.

Disclosure

Disclosure of disbursements will be made upon request (for the fiscal year for which the support is received) to those who financially support us.

Submissions for Funding

Persons or organizations wishing to apply for receipt of funding from the thunderboltsfund to facilitate experimental work or other ventures should apply in the first instance in writing to Dave Smith detailing your proposal and should include enough information as to allow a decision to be reached.
