The question of whether treatments involving various types of "healing energies" are effective for numerous illnesses has long been a subject of debate. In a recent review by Benor, a substantial number of research studies demonstrating statistically significant results demonstrated that "healing" may bring about changes in a variety of situations involving water, enzymes, plants, animals and humans.1

A working definition of "healing energy" is that it is an emanation of energy from the body and mind of the healer which goes beyond normal physiological processes to influence homeostasis in another living system. In all probability, this energy forms part of the biological EM field of the healer. What is the mechanism by which the biological EM field of a healer induces "healing?" Oschman reports on energy emissions from the hands of healers as well as brain wave activity specific to healers.2 During these "healing moments" the brain waves of the healers became phase and frequency synchronized with the electric field of the earth. This observation closely echoes that of Bentov, who studied similar mechanisms in meditators.3 Bentov found that there were actually several other interlocking resonating systems in the body activated by this steady 7 to 8 Hz activity during meditation. As the upper part of the body has a resonant frequency of about 7 Hz under normal conditions, Bentov notes that additional resonance effects resulting from this "phase interlock phenomenon" are not unlikely.

Studies indicate that low frequency fields, at the frequency and signal strength of the Schumann resonance (an atmospheric condition), can synchronize brain waves under a variety of experimental conditions and have predictable effects on behavior.4 Oschman suggests that the "healing energies" emitted by healers involve conditioning of the brain waves and other body rhythms with the slow electrical and magnetic rhythms of the earths atmosphere.5 This view was expressed earlier by Bentov in connection with a study of the kundalini energies exhibited by practitioners of yoga.6

This correlation between inner and outer rhythms seems likely. It is well known that there is also a relationship between the plasma fields of the earth and those of the sun. Bentov pointed out that charged particles produced by the sun residing in the Van Allen belts oscillate back and forth along the magnetic lines of the earth between the north and south poles. Much of this vibration is in the frequency range 1 to 40 Hz, well within physiological frequencies. These oscillations are coupled with the changes in the earths magnetic field. The spectrum of the earth-ionosphere cavity resonance, the Schumann resonance, covers the 1 Hz to 30 Hz region with an average value of about 7.8 Hz. This coincides with the brains alpha rhythm typically about 8 Hz. Also, numerous reports have demonstrated the extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields, or radiofrequency field amplitude modulated at ELF, can alter the efflux of calcium ions from CNS-derived samples. Three research groups have shown that a range of frequencies betwen 6 and 20 Hz was effective; while frequencies below and above that range were ineffective.7

Not only brain waves, but other systems also are affected by the Schumann resonance. As quoted in Smith, Ludwig (1987) has measured and compared a large number of the ELF rhythms in human subjects with resonant frequencies in homeopathic remedies using a spectrum analyzer. Bentov reported that Schumann calculated the earth-ionosphere cavity resonance frequencies at 10.6, 18.3, and 25.9 Hz, and he reported more recent values calculated by Toomey and Polk at 7.8, 14.1, 20.3, 26.4, and 32.5 Hz.8 Ludwig found a number of frequencies have been found to be common to all the subjects and to relate to the specific physiological functions. For example, the frequency 0.1 Hz relates to the circulatory system, 7.8 Hz relates to the hippocampus, 10 Hz to the circadian rhythms, 33 Hz to the lymphatic system, etc.9

It is reasonable to assume that the interactions between the ionosphere and the solar wind which yields geomagnetic field variations can also be expected to cause a wide range of other electromagnetic disturbances, or contribute to variations in the ground level cosmic ray flux and other generalized atmospheric effects. When man-made components are introduced on top of this, the results are apt to be unpredictable. Human brain activity, as well as that of animals, may be modified by extremely low levels of amplitude modulated electromagnetic fields.

Statistical studies have revealed potential dangers to living systems. The EPA, for example, has issued official warning for certain leukemic conditions in infants associated with living in proximity to power lines.10 If there is a relationship between various type of EM waves in living systems and the external environment, whether by controlled application (such as healing) or by inadvertent exposure (such as accidental exposure to some manmade EMF), these interactions may be very important to human health. A task for future research will be to identify the physical variables responsible for the variations in phenomena. These external waves are somehow transformed and processed by some mechanism through organisms. Methods: Single-photon emission computed tomography scans were acquired in 11 healthy individuals during either a resting state or meditation practice randomly performed on two separate days. Statistical parametric mapping analyses were conducted to identify significant changes in regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) between the two conditions.

Results: When the meditation state was compared with the baseline condition, significant rCBF increases were observed in the right temporal lobe and posterior cingulate gyrus, and significant rCBF decreases were observed in the left parietotemporal and occipital gyri.

Conclusion: The results offer evidence that this form of meditation practice is associated with changes in brain function in a way that is consistent with earlier studies of related types of meditation as well as with the positive clinical outcomes anecdotally reported by its users.

Recent advances in medical imaging, such as rCBF (regional Cerebral Blood Flow), real time MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), MEG (magnetoencephalography), and improved EEG (electoencephalography) allow detailed studies that are reshaping our understanding of the effects of meditation on neural behavior. Already there are several basic effects that have been discovered through scientific research in the recent past which demonstrate the profound influence meditation has on neurophysiology.

Andrew Newberg,MD has been conducting high-tech investigations of the brains of meditating Buddhists and Franciscan nuns at prayer in order to illuminate the chain of neurological events that are triggered by intensely focused spiritual contemplation. In collaboration with the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, he had an advanced Tibetan Buddhist meditator engage in meditation while hooked up to an IV. When he approached the transcendent peak of his meditative state, he tugged on a string. Dr. Newberg was at the other end and when he felt the pull, he released a radioactive dye into the IV line. Then the mediator was whisked into a SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) brain-imaging machine to determine which areas are active by measuring blood flow

The parietal area of the brain is responsible for giving us a sense of our orientation in space and time. He hypothesized that blocking all sensory and cognitive input into this area during meditation results in the sense of no space and no time. When this part of the brain, which weaves sensory data into a feeling of where the self ends, is deprived of sensory input through the meditator's focus on inward concentration, it cannot do it its job of finding the border between the self and the world. Dr. Newberg described how this affects consciousness:

The brain had no choice. It perceived the self to be endless, as one with all of creation. And this felt utterly real. The absorption of the self into something larger [is] not the result of emotional fabrication or wishful thinking. It springs from neurological events, as when the orientation area goes dark.

Alpha patterns are associated with calm and focused attention; Theta patterns are associated with reverie, imagery, and creativity; high Beta activity is associated with highly focused concentration. It was therefore argued that meditation contributed to a calm, creative, and focused pattern of brain activity which resulted in a person with these same qualities. Other early research indicated that meditation produced an increased hemispheric synchrony, which was correlated with creativity, and decreased habituation, which was claimed to indicate a "freshness of perception," although studies on these last two areas provided mixed results.

That's the finding from a group of researchers at UCLA who used high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to scan the brains of people who meditate. In a study published in the journal NeuroImage and currently available online (by subscription) the researchers report that certain regions in the brains of long-term meditators were larger than in a similar control group.

Specifically, meditators showed significantly larger volumes of the hippocampus and areas within the orbito-frontal cortex, the thalamus and the inferior temporal gyrus - all regions known for regulating emotions.

"While much attention has been paid to meditation practices that emphasize calming the mind, improving focused attention or developing mindfulness, less is known about meditation practices designed to specifically foster compassion," says Geshe Lobsang Tenzin Negi, PhD, who designed and taught the meditation program used in the study. Negi is senior lecturer in the Department of Religion, the co-director of Emory Collaborative for Contemplative Studies and president and spiritual director of Drepung Loseling Monastery, Inc.

This study focused on the effect of compassion meditation on inflammatory, neuroendocrine and behavioral responses to psychosocial stress, and evaluated the degree to which engagement in meditation practice influenced stress reactivity.

"Our findings suggest that meditation practices designed to foster compassion may impact physiological pathways that are modulated by stress and are relevant to disease," explains Charles L. Raison, MD, clinical director of the Mind-Body Program, Emory University's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Emory School of Medicine, and a lead author on the study.

TORONTO - Zen meditation can help people reduce their sensitivity to pain by thickening their brain, says a new study.

Montreal University (M-U) researchers made the discovery by comparing the grey matter thickness of Zen meditators and non-meditators.

They found evidence that practicing the centuries-old discipline of Zen can reinforce a central brain region (anterior cingulate) that regulates pain.

“Through training, Zen meditators appear to thicken certain areas of their cortex and this appears to underlie their lower sensitivity to pain,” says Joshua A. Grant, a doctoral student at M-U in physiology.

“We found a relationship between cortical thickness and pain sensitivity, which supports our previous study on how Zen meditation regulates pain,” added Grant.

For the study, scientists recruited meditators and non-meditators, who in addition had never practiced yoga, experienced chronic pain, neurological or psychological illness.

Grant and his team, under the direction of Pierre Rainville of the M-U, measured thermal pain sensitivity by applying a heated plate to the calf of participants and followed by brain scanning of subjects with structural magnetic resonance imaging.

According to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) results, central brain regions that regulate emotion and pain were significantly thicker in meditators compared to non-meditators.

We call these actions that help nurture us emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually aspects of heart-based living. The primary reason for the McKennas’ trip to the Amazon was to investigate the tryptamine buzz referred to above, though it was not until they arrived in the jungle that they realized it could be manipulated with the vocal chords, and was connected to the other enigma they were interested in.

The pineal gland is a gland in the centre of the brain, once thought to have been a vestigial eye. The Hindus call it the third eye, associating it with paranormal powers when ‘opened” by techniques such as meditation. This opening of the Third Eye leads to “Illumination” and “Enlightenment”.

The melatonin is circulated in the blood, and causes the skin cells to modify their production of the skin-pigment melanin; it also suppresses the hormone production of several glands, including the thyroid, adrenals, pancreas, pituitary and hypothalamus. These last two, in turn inhibit gonadal hormone production.

It has been found that serotonin levels vary on a 24-hour cycle, which “can be synchronized to an extent by changes in day/night length or indeed light/dark cycles.” Melatonin production is even more influenced by light.

Melatonin causes REM sleep (rapid eyeball movement), which is dream sleep, and correlates to a predominance of theta waves in the brain. Melatonin also causes the pineal to release another substance, called vasotocin, which causes deep sleep - a predominance of delta waves; this is why we have short periods of REM sleep, followed by deep sleep.

So, the pineal gland produces serotonin and melatonin, which are both tryptamines. It has been suggested by Colin Wilson, that serotonin “has a great deal to do with the evolution of species”, because the primates have far more serotonin than any other class of animal. He says it inhibits sexual development and increases intelligence. As we have seen, it is after it has been converted to melatonin that it inhibits sexual development.

Serotonin allows us to concentrate, by suppressing dream states and input from a wide spectrum of stimuli (melatonin territory), and narrowing our attention span to a narrow undistracted beam; it has been called. “The policeman of the thoughts.”

Hallucinogens like L.S.D. and psilocybin (which is a tryptamine), achieve their affect by blocking the serotonin receptors on the synapses of the neurons. This is because of the similarity in the shape of the molecules.

Serotonin and its analogs, and beta-carbolines like Harmine work by bonding to DNA and RNA (the single-strand messenger molecule). This process is called intercalation, as the molecules of the compound bind "by interaction between the base pairs of the double helix, resulting in a partial unwinding of the helix in the region of the intercalated molecule".

Anyway, getting back to the vocally-modulated tryptamine buzz; it acts on the harmine like harmonics, by canceling the “charge transfer’, causing it to act like a superconductor.

“This superconductively-sustained and amplified resonation of the harmine-DNA macromolecule would excite the tryptamine-RNA complex into a sympathetic resonance frequency, causing it to act as a radio transmitter which would broadcast the coded information of the harmine-DNA superconducting sustainer circuit”127

This would manifest as standing waveform “of the entire resonating macromolecule”.128

The interference pattern would be set up by the tryptamine- RNA complexes triggered by thought, and when in phase with the harmine-DNA resonation, would create a holographic 3- dimensional image - an excerpt from the DNA memory bank. The tryptamine-RNA complex could also “function as an omnidirectional receiver for externally-modulated ESR frequencies” 129 - i.e. telepathy.

So, in summary; there is a connection between evolutionary advancement, spiritual advancement, and the chemistry of the pineal gland. Spiritually advanced people are those who, by their own actions- often some form of meditation- have made an evolutionary leap. Zen meditators who have been meditating for at least 20 years are able at will, to quickly enter a theta state while awake, which corresponds to pineal melatonin production. As one’s ability progresses, the pineal produces more harmala alkaloids, which allow consciousness access to the genetic code; the “dissociative state”, “when non-physical phenomena constitute the whole field of perception.131 It has now been found that, in addition to theta activity, there is high amplitude delta and high amplitude theta, centred at the top of the head, and synchronous in both hemispheres.

The step beyond this has been called “the transcendant state”, when “individuals move beyond their own ego, beyond the unconscious mind, into a peak state of universal awareness”132. The delta and theta activity of the dissociative state continues, but is accompanied by very high beta activity in the temporal regions of the brain.

A gifted physician and scientist by the name of Wilhelm Reich discovered the presence of a pre-atomic and mass-free biological energy that permeates all matter. Reich named his ether-like substance orgone, and further classified it into positive orgone (simply known as orgone) and deadly orgone (DOR). He explained that people with cheerful, dynamic personalities had an abundance of orgone, while people who were depressed or sickly had an excess of DOR. This concept was further applicable to weather, where violent storms generated large amounts of DOR. Other sources of DOR were radiation, such as that which came from nuclear power plants.

Within the course of his work, Reich discovered that the frequency 430 Mhz could affect human brain waves. From 1947-52 he worked on a joint project with the U.S. government to explore the potential applications of his findings. When Reich discovered that his research was being used to further human mind control experiments, he immediately left the project and vowed to never again work with the government on any of his projects.

One of the reasons for this was a device Reich was contracted by the U.S. government to build called the radiosonde. The radiosonde was a variation of the cloudbuster. Although its official purpose was forecasting the weather, the actual purpose of the device was far more astounding. The radiosonde was a little white balsa wood box containing platinum and gold which was sent high into the air via air balloon, allegedly to record weather data. Inside the package was a thermistor, or temperature sensor, which actually performed as an antenna to measure the amount of DOR in the atmosphere. The humidity sensor measured orgone. The third component of the radiosonde was a barrel switch, or pressure sensor, which would be turned on if the thermistor sensed a disproportionate amount of DOR in its local area. The DOR could then be destroyed while orgone was built up. Apparently witnesses saw storm clouds split up and go around the test site at Brookhaven Labs in Long Island. This was done by a continuous wave oscillator which effectively converted electrical energy to etheric energy. In the 1950’s, the U.S. government sent hundreds of radiosondes up into the air on a daily basis. The radiosonde eventually became what is known today as the HAARP Project.

In 1997 a friend introduced me to a man in America. First he said that the cure for cancer had been known for decades, but they would not release this to the public because they did not want people to survive and were making far more money drugging the dying and treating the symptoms than they ever could curing the disease.

He said the technology existed to create abundant growth in deserts without water by stimulating the energy fields of the plants. This would eliminate hunger by itself if it were made available. But the same technology was, instead, used to kill thousands of people in a mass murder that he witnessed. The CIA (an Illuminati agency) had gathered a vast multitude together in Ethiopia during the famine. He was in a plane that he thought was flying over the area to cast a vibrational field across the land to stimulate plant growth. When he came to the front of the plane to see what was happening, he saw thousands of people lying dead. The company claims it is the first operational chip that can be linked to the global positioning satellite tracking systems. It will allow your every move anywhere on the planet to be tracked from satellite. It is also designed to connect with the Internet and to become a user-identity device for the web. It is described as a “dime-sized” implant inserted just under the skin. The chip will be powered “electromechanically” through the movement of muscles and it can be activated by the wearer of the monitoring device. It has, according to the official statements, been developed by Dr. Peter Zhou and his research team but has progressed “ahead of schedule.”

Dr. Peter Zhou stresses, of course, the benefits for people becoming human robots connected to a satellite. He said he was excited about his chip’s ability to save lives by monitoring medical conditions and giving an exact location to rescue services.

There are also, believed to be organic molecules in some body fluids, that are believed to be liquid crystalline in structure. These change state (liquid to crystal) very readily, with an extremely small change in energy (e.g. emotions).

Another form of organized structure found in the body, are the multitude of long parallel conductive protein structures that form phase arrays like structures. Like a phased array, they pick up extreme weak signals and amplify them by being in phase. It is also suggested, that these proteins may have room temperature superconductivity. It is these organized structures in living things that produce a coherence that has resonance with very minute amounts of SuperLight. Most of it passes through matter, between the nucleus and electron, without even coming in contact with them.

Our body is electronic in nature and it is composed of millions and billions of micro–electronic units that are formed in structures that have a phase array organization. I believe that the electronic resonance in these organized conductive molecules has some resonance with very small amounts of SuperLight and that these energy fields and currents are responsible for the human aura and the energy vortexes found in the body chakra area. They also produce the Vital Life Forces. But, since SuperLight is so powerful, even a very, very small amount produces more than enough energy to sustain life. Thus, life is produced and sustained by specific forms and amounts of organized matter, and old age and eventual death occurs when too much disorder and disease comes into our bodies and breaks up this ordered structure. At that point, the body can no longer produce enough Vital Life Force from SuperLight to sustain itself. I also believe that all forms of organized matter produce its own aura–finger–prints or energy signature when it reacts with SuperLight.

Crystals to the rescue also. Crystals are very organized structures and thus according to this thesis are also converters or transducers of SuperLight. This is where their energy comes from and explains how they seemingly can radiate a positive signal continuously without being recharged. As with herbs, crystals and minerals of different chemistries and structures develop different types of energy fields. This explains why different crystals have different effects on different parts of the body. The key to crystal healing is to match the required energy with the proper crystal that produces that specific energy need.

As scientists and experimenters become more aware of SuperLight and start to understand it, experiments and instruments will be designed to attune to these energies. In the future, I conceive of manufacturing simulated body structures which will be micro–size phase array assemblies made of room temperature superconductors. Specific micro–structures will be designed to attune to, and resonate with, the exact energy needed, in the specific part of the body that needs an energy boost for healing and regeneration.

It is said, that the priests in Atlantis lived for thousands of years, and that their secret was that they, at times, would sleep in crystal lined caves and that this would rejuvenate their bodies, bringing healing and new growth.

I propose that, in the very near future, I will be able to test this idea with the fiber crystal that I am making in my lab in Albuquerque. Soon, I hope to be able to grow my fiber crystals long enough, and in large enough quantities, that we will be able to spin these crystals into yarn. Once spun into yarn, single crystal fiber cloth could be woven to make crystal cloth head and wristbands, hats, and meditation shawls. You could even stuff your mattress with crystal fiber, or cover your bedroom wall with crystal fiber cloth wallpaper. This should stimulate creativity, imagination, healing and regeneration.

Now this next idea may sound way out, but, I believe that it will be possible to make room temperature superconductors of crystal fiber. If this becomes possible, we are talking about levitation, and possibly even a magic carpet.

So, the door is wide open with the possibilities of working with SuperLight energies, through the use of single crystal fibers. I believe these need to be high purity crystal fibers, in order to have the coherence necessary to resonate with SuperLight.

Biologists are beginning to realize that co-operation was just as important as competition in the evolution of life's diversity and resilience. Every cell in the human body contains a mitochondrion which is thought to be a bacterial cell which invaded an early eukaryote. Instead of being digested, both cells tolerated each other and began to live with each other - a merger which provided synergies to both. This is a startling example of symbio-genesis. But then every multi-cellular animal or plant is also an obvious example of co-operation rather than competition. More than a 1,000 trillion cells are living peacefully and co-operating in your body; together with 500 to 100,000 species of bacteria. In fact, there are about ten times as many bacteria as human cells in the human body.
Lynn Margulis, member of the National Academy of Sciences and Distinguished Professor at the University of Massachusetts, has argued that random mutation, claimed to be the main source of genetic variation is of only limited importance. Much more significant is the acquisition and integration of new genomes by symbiotic merger. But of course, she was confining herself to only carbon-based life forms.

The "Parallel Earth" hypothesis proposes that a counterpart dark matter Earth co-accreted with the visible Earth in the embryonic Solar System. According to dark plasma theory, dark matter consists largely of a plasma of very high energy non-standard particles (sometimes of a different parity) - or "dark plasma". On this counterpart Earth, life flourished, just like it did on our visible Earth. The difference was that the life forms were plasma-based. Two different substrates, plasma and carbon, gave rise to life-forms in two different habitats.

According to the "Dark Panspermia" hypothesis proposes that meteorites, asteroids and comets, containing both the dark and visible building blocks of life fell into habitable zones and generated the first single-celled and later multi-cellular life-forms which developed both ordinary and dark bioplasma bodies that were coupled to each other. Hence, even when life began on the visible Earth, plasma life forms were already forming symbiotic relationships with the abundant carbon-based life forms on our counterpart Earth.

"Symbiosis" is a term used to describe a close ecological relationship between the individuals of two (or more) different species. Sometimes a symbiotic relationship benefits both species, sometimes one species benefits at the other's expense, and in other cases neither species benefits. It has been observed by metaphysicists that the symbiotic relationship between the bioplasma and carbon-based bodies is one of "mutualism" where both species benefit. (At least one leading metaphysicist, however, describes the relationship as "parasitic".)

Practically all carbon-based life forms today, including homo sapiens, had symbiotic relationships with plasma-based life forms. Hominids are the products of a symbio-genesis between a carbon-based and plasma-based life form. Unlike other animals, however, carbon-based hominids were able to utilize the alternative cognitive-sensory systems of their plasma-based symbiotic partners. Their unique brains allowed them to activate the higher energy bioplasma bodies that co-evolved with the carbon-based body without necessarily having any conscious awareness that they were accessing a different cognitive system.

When certain brain circuits in the biochemical brain (particularly in the parietal and temporal lobes) were disabled, the locus of consciousness from the carbon-based body of a human was transferred to the plasma-based body. During REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep the carbon-based body processes information from the bioplasma body.

According to dark plasma theory, there is a higher energy correlate of the (carbon-based) physical-biochemical fertilized egg. This correlate, usually in its adult form, is often called the "(etheric) double" in the general metaphysical literature. It is often observed as a replica of the carbon-based body but operates on an electromagnetic platform, being a bioplasma body. It is classified here as a "Level 3 bioplasma body". ("Level 3" signifies that the body inhabits a universe which has 3 spatial dimensions and 1 time dimension, just like the carbon-based body.)

Dr Robert Foot of the University of Melbourne argues that some meteorites, such as the one that caused the Tunguska crater, may be composed of "mirror matter" (a component of dark matter where particles have a different parity from the particles tabulated under the physicists' Standard Model or what plasma metaphysics calls the "standard particles") and have impacted the Earth without leaving any ordinary matter fragments.

According to plasma metaphysics, dark matter consists largely of a plasma of very high energy super particles (sometimes of a different parity) - or "dark plasma". Due to their very high energy levels (or different parities) these particles interacted only weakly with ordinary matter (in other words, there are only subtle interactions between the ordinary and dark matter bodies) or they do not interact at all with ordinary matter at extremely high energies. It is reasonable to assume that the lower frequency (or energy) dark matter (which can be correlated to what metaphysicists call "physical-etheric matter") would have subtle interactions with the biochemical fields within the biological body whereas the higher frequency dark matter (which can be correlated with what metaphysicists call the "astral" and other even higher energy matter) may not interact directly with ordinary matter.

Meteorites which contain dark plasma generated the first bioplasma cells which were the precursors to the biochemical cells. It has been shown that plasma can undergo self-organization as electronic charges become separated and the plasma becomes polarized. As argued by Tsytovich, the plasma cell acted as a mold or template for the formation of the biochemical cell. This is consistent with the observation, often found in the metaphysical literature (for example Barbara Brennan and others), that the subtle bioplasma body provides the template for the morphogenesis of the biochemical body in 3+1 dimensional space. This is also consistent with dark matter theories, which propose that dark matter provides the scaffolding for ordinary matter (as reported by Richard Massey, California Institute of Technology, and others). Physicist Chung Pei-Ma, an associate professor of astronomy at UC Berkeley, concludes that "the ghost universe of dark matter is a template for the visible universe".

While the carbon-based body was ordinarily visible, the dark matter body was invisible. It is conceivable that a series of invisible bodies, developing over a spectrum of energy levels and composed of dark matter, formed an invisible superstructure over the biological body. The higher energy bodies and the biological bodies then co-evolved as a composite during the lifetime of the carbon-based biological body.

When the biological bodies died, however, dark matter bodies continued to evolve on their own. At periodic intervals these older dark matter bodies (with accumulated memories) fused with the young dark matter counterpart bodies of embryonic biological bodies to continue their evolution with biological bodies. The evolution of these dark matter bodies were therefore inter-twined with the evolution of biological bodies over vast stretches of time. The dark matter bodies of human beings have often been described as "subtle bodies" or "bioplasma bodies" in the metaphysical and off-mainstream scientific literature.

Liquid water is essential for biochemical life as an agent for transport and protein folding. Its high heat capacity, ability to remain a liquid over a wide temperature range and properties as a solvent ensures a stable and useful substrate for biochemical activities. Its importance, however, is relative to biochemical life - not electromagnetic life. It is not necessary for electromagnetic life which uses magnetic fields to form structures and electric fields as agents of transport.

The Elders of the Native American Hopi nation say that the Earth's surface is like the back of a spotted fawn. As the fawn grows the spots move and change number. Similarly, every time the Earth Mother sings a new song or enters a new vibrational shift, Her power centers also change to a new configuration, interconnected by a more complex sacred geometry.

It is now believed that the Earth also has its own energy centers, much like the human body has chakras and acupuncture points. Like the growing fawn or the balloon subjected to a higher frequency, when the Earth periodically moves into a higher energy state, so the overall planetary energy patterns shift into new crystal-like forms. This is a global phenomenon which appears to have been going on for a very long period of time.

Based on the research of Hanshou Liu of the Goddard Space Flight Center, who analyzed stress lines in the Earth caused by polar and land movements over the last 200 million years, Spilhaus found that what was next outlined in the planetary structure was a combination cube and octahedron. A Cube is composed of six squares, and the Octahedron has eight triangles arranged like two Egyptian pyramids end-to-end, or in the configuration of a flourite crystal. These constitute the next two higher Platonic Solids beyond the Tetrahedron.

In 1973, three Russians -- historians Nikolai Goncharov, construction engineer Vyacheslav Morozov and electronics specialist Valery Makarov -- announced their discovery of a geometric grid pattern which appears to interlink a wide number of natural phenomena into a single planetary system. Their work was based on the findings of American researcher Ivan T. Sanderson who identified what he called twelve vile vortexes or electromagnetic energy disturbances located equidistant over the surface of the globe, the so-called Bermuda Triangle near the Caribbean and the Devil's Sea off Japan being two of these.

What the three Russians found was an underlying framework linking these centers into a dual crystal structure, a combination between an icosahedron and a dodecahedron. Not surprisingly, these happen to be the Fourth and Fifth Solids in the Platonic series, which were projected outward by the Earth for over the last million years or so.

The Icosahedron is composed of twenty triangles forming a ball, and the Dodecahedron is made up of twelve pentagons as its sides.

Fully 3,300 separate ancient monuments or sacred complexes have been found directly associated with the Icosa-Dodeca grid configuration.

That the Ancients were very familiar with the Earth's crystal grid can be seen in their literature and in their remains. Plato, in describing how the planet appeared from space, stated that it looked like a ball sewn together with twelve pieces of cloth. These would be the twelve pentagons of the Dodeca, which also forms the framework for the Icosa grid as well.

Most significantly, the geomagnetic field of the planet has been steadily dropping, while the Schumann Resonance or overall global frequency is increasing.

Like the dye points on the balloon, a change of frequency means the old centers and the old crystal grid are dissolving, and a new crystal energy structure is in formation.

Beyond the Platonic series of Solids is another form being geometrically generated out of the old Icosa-Dodeca crystal. If you take an Icosahedron and join together with lines every other point inside the form, you create twelve pentacles or five-pointed stars. If you extend the outer edges of the Icosahedron and join these node points together, you create a second group of twelve pentacles or stars. This becomes the seed crystal that gives birth to a new crystalline form called a double penta-dodecahedron, composed of twelve double-pentacles equally spaced across the surface of the globe.

Crystals start growing by a process called nucleation. Nucleation can either start with the molecules themselves, which is called unassisted nucleation, or with the help of some solid matter already in the solution, which is called assisted nucleation.

When the molecules are in the solution, most of the time they only see solvent molecules around them. However, they occasionally see other solute molecules. If the compound is a solid when it is pure, there will be some attractive force between these solute molecules. Most of the time when these solute molecules meet, they will stay together for a little while, but then other forces will eventually pull them apart. Sometimes the two molecules will stay together long enough to meet up with a third and then a fourth solute molecule.

Most of the time when there are just a few molecules joined together, they break apart. However, once there are a certain number of solute molecules, which is considered a critical size, where the combined attractive forces between the solute molecules become stronger than the other forces in the solution that tend to disrupt the formation of these aggregates. This is when the protocrystal or pre-crystal becomes a nucleation site. As this protocrystal floats around in solution, it encounters other solute molecules. These solute molecules feel the attractive force of the protocrystal and join in. That's how the crystal begins to grow. It continues growing until eventually, it can no longer remain dissolved in the solution and it falls out of solution. Now other solute molecules begin growing on the surface of the crystal and it keeps on getting bigger until there is an equilibrium reached between the solute molecules in the crystal and those still dissolved in the solvent.

The earth has two crusts. One is the the mostly basalt lower crust or the oceanic crust which is 2 – 4 miles deeper down than the higher upper continental crust. This lower crust, essentially covers the Earth. This crust is being made daily at rift cracks that snake around the earth’s mid-oceans. But how could all these rifts continually spread apart without the Earth growing?

Secondly, Sitting on or “in” and “as part of” the oceanic crust is the second higher upper crust or the Continental Crust rising for the most part out of the water. It is made mostly of granitic rock, which is 2.5 times the weight of water.

Some edge area of the Continental Crust or Plate dips into and under the sea level of the ocean. This area is what we call the Continental Shelf. So as you go out into the ocean and the water gets gradually deeper that is the Continental Shelf. At a given distance out into the ocean the ocean floor suddenly drops off and goes down like a plummet 2 ½ to 4 miles to the deep ocean floor, where we find the second lower crust, the Oceanic Crust made mostly of basalts which are 3.0 – 3.3 times the weight of water. So to make it visually clear, if you took the water away what you would see as you go out into the ocean a distance is, the Continental Shelf would suddenly drop away and down like a ridge in Arizona except it would go straight down for two to three miles, as if it was suddenly broken off. The other side of that broken off ridge is across the ocean thousands of miles in Europe, or Africa and west to Australia and Asia.

Rifts or eruptive cracks in the ocean floor provide new material in the form of molten magmic rock that rises up at a rift area and the oceanic plate spreads apart and the two sides move away from each other smoothly and regularly, and so the continents welded within the oceanic plates also move apart as the ocean bottom spreads. Now if this happens … and it does, all over the world, logically speaking, this Earth must grow.
I argue that this outer crust originally covered the whole of a smaller Earth and the Earth sphere grew. The outer crust, therefore, had to crack and spread to accommodate a growing Earth which it apparently did.

We further argue that if you were to shrink the sphere of Earth by letting the oceanic plate re-enter the rifts they erupted from, over time the continental crust would easily and completely fit back together, and this solution satisfies all questions of tectonics, science, geology, paleontology, theoretical and practical physics, cosmology, and subatomic physics.

He challenged the concept of continents in fixed positions from the outset and from 1946 to 1956 he taught a version of intercontinental movement with subduction in deep ocean trenches. This came to be called ‘plate tectonics’ some twenty years later but at the time when no one believed in any form of intercontinental movement, Carey’s version was also called ‘continental drift’ by default. Carey developed a new way to interpret orogens. He did not ascribe the building of mountain chains to compression – as is commonly accepted by the geological community involved in contraction or pulsation tectonics.

Carey ascribed it to isostatic instability where rising mantle beneath deep sediment filled trenches causes diapiric uplift. The observed folding was explained as the consequent downward gravitational sliding of uplifted strata. This mountain building concept is still considered valid today and it constitutes part of a more diversified classification of mountain evolution that has been developed by Cliff Ollier.

Carey proposed abandonment of the subduction concept, and put forward step by step the concept of Earth expansion. Carey – using the orocline concept – generalised his views on movement between continents, demonstrating that the continents could fit together better if the Earth was smaller in size.

A diapir is a type of intrusion in which a more mobile and ductily-deformable material is forced into brittle overlying rocks. Depending on the tectonic environment, diapirs can range from idealized mushroom-shaped Rayleigh-Taylor instability-type structures in regions with low tectonic stress such as in the Gulf of Mexico to narrow dikes of material that move along tectonically-induced fractures in surrounding rock. The term was introduced by the Romanian geologist Ludovic Mrazek, who was the first to understand the principle of salt intrusion and plasticity. The term "diapir" may be applied to igneous structures, but it is more commonly applied to non-igneous, relatively cold materials, such as salt domes and mud diapirs.

In addition to Earth-based observations, diapirism is thought to occur on Jupiter's moon Europa, Saturn's moon Enceladus, and Uranus's moon Miranda.

Diapirs commonly intrude vertically upward along fractures or zones of structural weakness through denser overlying rocks because of density contrast between a less dense, lower rock mass and overlying denser rocks. The density contrast manifests as a force of buoyancy. The process is known as diapirism. The resulting structures are also referred to as piercement structures.

In the process, segments of the existing strata can be disconnected and pushed upwards. While moving higher, they retain much of their original properties such as pressure, which can be significantly different from that of the shallower strata they get pushed into. Such overpressured Floaters pose a significant risk when trying to drill through them. There is an analogy to a Galilean thermometer.

Rock types such as evaporitic salt deposits and gas charged muds are potential sources of diapirs. Diapirs also form in the earth's mantle when a sufficient mass of hot, less dense magma assembles. Diapirism in the mantle is thought to be associated with the development of large igneous provinces and some mantle plumes.

To Beam: - (def) - "to send out, emit, or radiate so that such emission may be forcibly received by another object." One who has been "beamed" with scalar methods cannot but receive the beam's energetic signal. There is a penalty though for generating a scalar.

When a beaming action occurs, and a wave is sent out and then comes back, the reflection comes back in a negative polarity, basically to cancel out the originating beam(er). This is a natural law in vibration. That is the first concept behind scalar generation.

This negative action on the beamer (sender), depending on the strength of the original impulse, will create some level of endorphin release in the beamer (because the body just received an assault, albeit from one's origination). NASA’s Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft imaged the feature over two decades ago. The fact that it has appeared in Cassini images indicates that it is a long-lived feature. A second hexagon, significantly darker than the brighter historical feature, is also visible in the Cassini pictures. The spacecraft’s visual and infrared mapping spectrometer is the first instrument to capture the entire hexagon feature in one image.

Richard Hoagland states that this hexagonal figure is one hexagon within another that is made of ammonia clouds. He states that it is hyper-dimensional.

Let us consider the six-pointed star as consisting of two equilateral triangles. The triangle is the simplest conceivable plane figure with distinct points. While in mysticism the number four and the square represent the created world, the number three and the triangle represent the various possibilities resulting from the division of the One into two. Over the years, I've read articles and heard stories that refer to unusual phenomena relating to experiments with high energy concentrations in a 'constrained' area. This energy can be in the form of high concentrations of sound, electricity, magnetism, etc.

Each spatial (and possibly TEMPORAL) location, no matter what dimension it resides in, has a specific coordinate, referenced by a combination of frequencies that equate to the 'signature' for that location.
These are nested frequencies - like bubbles within bubbles - because they are all standing waves produced by 180 degree phase conjugation.

If a modulation - representing a specific 'signature'/coordinate - is imposed on this stress field, then a portal is opened to that location. My concept is that a resonance is established between these two locations (there can be more), i.e. the physical-spatial location and the artifically created image.

When a tuning fork is struck, a fork tuned to the same frequency will resonate with the excited fork, rapidly achieving an energy equilibrium between the two. Once this equilibrium is established, there is an energy transfer, almost in a holographic sense which phaselocks the two forks. This can occur between any two resonant spaces or objects.

By adjusting the amplitude of the vibration between the two resonant bodies/spaces, an energy flow can be established in either direction between them. High amplitude always flows to low amplitude in the natural attempt to achieve equilibrium, thus creating a flow between the bodies/spaces.

Once a resonance is established, I believe a mass can be caught up in this flow and physically transported between two resonant spaces. I am of the opinion that the claims of 'time travel' are much closer to being a dimensional shift where multiple realities exist within the same spatial location, yet slightly out of phase (alternate realities/dimensions).

By tuning to these alternate spatial, temporal or dimensional realities, creating a flow and then sustaining it, an object would shift to that location. In his book, 'The Excalibur Briefing' Tom Bearden refers to these alternate realities and the appearance in our reality of phenomena he refers to as 'tulpoids'.

These tulpoids include UFOs, bigfoot, Nessie and other Fortean manifestations of short duration, yet some of which leave physical evidence of having been here.

What if these are entities from an alternate reality caught in a momentary flow to be forcibly transported to our world? They would be lost and confused, probably antagonistic due to fear.

The question then arises as to where do they go if they appear here, that is, why don't they STAY here? When one of these alternate reality entities gets caught up in a high density energy field, it is 'charged' with the 'coordinate/signature' of the field.

For a short time, this signature overcomes its natural 'creation coordinate' and the entity transports to an alternate reality. The now charged entity wanders around in its new reality bleeding off energy which was absorbed and MAINTAINS its contact with the new reality. Once the energy has dissipated to a point allowing the entities natural 'creation coordinate' to resume, it transports BACK to its home reality.

One of the comments made in the infamous Billy Meier UFO case was in the form of a question Billy asked one of the Pleidians. The response has always fascinated me because it indicated an understanding far beyond what an itinerant Swiss farmer would normally be aware.

After one of the ships had taken off, the typical circular swirls of the grass where the ship was remained for as long as a year. The grass continued to grow in a swirling pattern.

When Meier asked about this, he was told that the South pole CCW rotation of their ships field had 'remodulated' the natural energy field (the aura) of the grass. As a result, the grass was charged with this pattern. The grass continued to grow in the swirling pattern until the artifically imposed field dissipated to a point where the natural field of the earth would resume and the grass would grow normally.

Taking all this into consideration, the question then arises, how do we accomplish dimensional shifts under controlled conditions?

In line with this idea of resonant transfer are two excellent papers by Alan Holt of NASA. A new propulsion concept has been developed based on a proposed resonance between coherent, pulsed electromagnetic wave forms and gravitational wave forms (or space-time metrics).

The field resonance system artificially generates an energy pattern which precisely matches or resonates with a virtual pattern associated with a distent space-time point. According to the model, if a fundamental or precise resonance is established, (using hydromagnetic wave fine-tuning techniques), the spacecraft will be very strongly and equally repelled by surrounding virtual patterns.

Using this concept, a spacecraft "propulsion" system potentially capable of galactic and inter-galactic travel without prohibitive "travel times" has been designed.

A mask was made which held the North pole end of a long cylindrical magnet over the pineal gland. The purpose was to stimulate the gland and see if there was anything to this 'third eye' business. Exposure was in the range of 10-30 minutes per day over a period of about 4 weeks.

Within the first week, he was sitting at his desk reading documents when he noticed something move out of the corner of his eye. As he looked up, the ghostly figure of a man had walked through one wall, moved across the room and disappeared through another wall. The figure was totally unaware of Walter. Further exposures to this North pole field took place over a second and third week.

The second week, the same ghostly figure moved through the room and glanced toward Walter as he passed through. This time, the figure appeared to have slightly more detail, not quite so ghostly.

The third week, busy working on documents, Walter noticed a change in the room. When he looked up, the wall had dissolved away and he was looking at a small hill where a man and woman sat beneath a tree. It was the same ghostly male figure who he'd seen on the other occasions. He sat quite still, watching this pastoral scene for several minutes.

The man looked over toward Walter and appeared startled. It was as if he clearly SAW Walter this time and possibly recognized Walter as the ghost he had seen the previous week! The image faded away and the wall restored to its normal condition. From that moment on, Walter never used the pineal stimulator again.

In conversations about this, with Walter and other interested people, it was mentioned that there is a theory that we have multiple energy bodies, much like the KA and the BA of ancient Egypt. Each energy body lives in another reality, yet communicates with our consciousness here in this reality.

Another comment was that consciousness simply creates an energy body in whatever reality it VISITS. Prolonged presence in a given reality increases the density of the energy body, moving from a phantom, ghostly form that was at first not easily perceptible to the inhabitants of the other reality until the intruding energy body had become sufficiently dense to trigger their senses.

Gravity of Inner-Earth Upheavals

Dr. Carl Bowin postulates that very large mass anomalies lie deep in the Earth, presumably "explained, as a first approximation, by topography at the core-mantle boundary (CMB)." Bowin estimates that the greatest of Earth's deep mass anomalies are due 1) to slabs of cold dense crust that have sunk deeply into the mantle and 2) to relief at the CMB. These two types of deep masses are perhaps 100 times greater in magnitude than those of Earth's principal surface features, like island arcs, mid-ocean ridges, and the Azores-high area. Such surface features had been assumed by some geophysicists to be the major mass determinants of Earth's spin-axis stability. But now, Bowin's work has cast doubt on this assumption. We must now turn our attention to those masses of greatest magnitude, in the deep mantle and along the CBM.

It is the very deepest mass anomalies, conceptualized as being areas of relief 1/2-2.5 miles high at the core-mantle boundary, that dominate Earth's mass-anomaly picture. How did they get there? Bowin points out that of the three planets that have metallic cores, Earth, Venus, and Mars, only Earth has its greatest mass anomalies deep within the planet. For Mars and Venus, surface topographic features correlate with the greatest anomalies. Bowin expects their core-mantle boundaries to be relatively smooth. Indeed, Venus lacks a requisite core convection -- as is present in Earth's outer core.

Bowin suggests that the mass anomalies at Earth's core-mantle boundary are due to the momentum of motions in the fluid-iron outer core. These currents push dense material above the CMB in various regions, like bumps on a ball. The pushed-up masses of dense iron result in gravity anomalies that are capable of driving the movements of Earth's tectonic plates by gravitational attraction, according to Bowin. D. Brunet and P. Machetel write of "mantle avalanches" that have induced the large-scale tectonic features of the Earth. These avalanches "suddenly inject huge quantities of cold material [from, for example, descending crustal plates] into the lower mantle and have effects at Earth's surface and at the CMB." Bowin's gravity anomalies at the CMB could be assumed to be assisting this process.

From these two readings we may conclude that Cayce's psychic source foresaw some tremendous upheavals in the interior of the planet during 1936, as well as the shifting of Earth's independently-spinning, solid-iron inner core. If so, and if we can be permitted to pile on another speculation, the upheavals of 1936 could have altered the existing mass anomalies at the core-mantle boundary. Such mass changes would be of great importance to engendering pole shift, assuming that Bowin is correct as to the importance of these deepest and largest-in-magnitude of Earth's various mass concentrations.

And again, we might well expect that because pole shift can most probably only be caused by a significant redistribution of mass within the Earth, a shift might be a possible consequence of the 1936 "upheavals" in the interior of the Earth. Also, if the solid inner core's axis underwent a shift in 1936, then its new motion might also contribute to the effects of mass redistribution on pole shift in some way. That the Cayce readings seem to predict a roughly 65-year lag between the 1936 upheavals and a shifting of the poles (reading 826-8) in 2000-2001, does not seem improbable. There are many natural processes that display time lags of various lengths between a stimulus and a response in Earth's dynamic geophysical systems.

It seems counter-intuitive, but it turns out that certain kinds of earthquakes also affect the global drift of Earth’s spin axis. In fact, according to L Alfonsi and G. Spada (1998, Jour. Geophys. Research, v. 103, no. B4), these earthquakes “preferentially drive the rotation axis toward a well-defined direction and systematically induce negative variations of the Earth’s oblatness.”

The century old mystery of Earth's ‘Chandler wobble’ has been solved by a scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. The Chandler wobble, named for its 1891 discoverer, Seth Carlo Chandler, Jr., an American businessman turned astronomer, is one of several wobbling motions exhibited by the Earth as it rotates on its axis, much as a top wobbles as it spins.

Scientists have been particularly intrigued by the Chandler wobble, since its cause has remained a mystery even though it has been under observation for over a century. Its period is only around 433 days, or just 1.2 years, meaning that it takes that amount of time to complete one wobble. The amplitude of the wobble amounts to about 20 feet at the North Pole. It has been calculated that the Chandler wobble would be damped down, or reduced to zero, in just 68 years, unless some force were constantly acting to reinvigorate it.

But what is that force, or excitation mechanism? Over the years, various hypotheses have been put forward, such as atmospheric phenomena, continental water storage (changes in snow cover, river runoff, lake levels, or reservoir capacities), interaction at the boundary of Earth's core and its surrounding mantle, and earthquakes.

Writing in the August 1 issue of Geophysical Research Letters, Richard S. Gross of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory reports that the principal cause of the Chandler wobble is fluctuating pressure on the bottom of the ocean, caused by temperature and salinity changes and wind-driven changes in the circulation of the oceans.

Gross calculated that two-thirds of the Chandler wobble is caused by ocean-bottom pressure changes and the remaining one-third by fluctuations in atmospheric pressure.

The angles that characterize the direction of the rotational pole within the Earth are called the polar coordinates, x and y. Variation in the values of these coordinates is called polar motion. The polar coordinates measure the position of the Earth’s instantaneous pole of rotation in a reference frame defined by the adopted locations of terrestrial observatories.

The coordinate x is measured along the 0° (Greenwich) meridian while the coordinate y is measured along the 90° W meridian. These two coordinates determine the directions on a plane onto which the polar motion is projected.

Polar motion consists largely of two motions, an annual elliptical component and a Chandler circular component with a period of about 435 days. These two motions describe most of the spiral motion of the pole as seen from the Earth.

One thing that is readily apparent from examining all the available polar motion data for the last three decades is that the polar motion has tended to stay confined to a circular area centered approximately at 0.3 arc-seconds (about 30 feet on the charts) west of 90° N and confined to a circular area of about the same radius. At the current time there is no indication that the polar motion, dubbed the Chandler Wobble, is deviating in any way from its normal course. However, if the poles does start to shift, as is predicted in the Cayce Readings, it will be readily apparent here when our updated Polar Motion trace leaves it's well defined area of activity.

A posting of January 30, 2001, from the University of California, Berkeley, discusses research on a very minor, but exceedingly interesting, mechanism that contributes to excitation of Chandler’s wobble.

A new theory proposes that iron-rich sediments are floating to the top of the Earth’s core and sticking like gum to the bottom of the mantle, creating drag that throws the Earth’s wobble off by a millimeter or two over a period of about 18.6 years

The wobble is explained by metal patches attached to the core-mantle boundary,’ explained Raymond Jeanloz, professor of geology and planetary science at the University of California, Berkeley. ‘As the outer core turns, its magnetic field lines are deflected by the patches and the core fluid gets slowed down, just like mountains rubbing against the atmosphere slows the Earth down.’

As the Earth spins on its axis the moon and sun tug on its bulging equator and create a large wobble or precession, producing the precession of the equinoxes with a period of 25,800 years. Other periodic processes in the solar system nudge the Earth, too, creating small wobbles - called nutations - in the wobble. The principal components of the nutation are caused by the Earth’s annual circuit of the sun and the 18.6 year precession of the moon’s orbit.

While these nutations have been known for many years, extremely precise geodetic measurements of the pointing direction of the Earth’s axis have turned up unexplained deviations from the predicted nutation.

An annual deviation that lagged behind the tidal pull of the sun first suggested to Buffett 10 years ago that strange processes may be going on at the boundary between the mantle, made up of viscous rock that extends 1,800 miles below the crust, and the outer core, which is thought to be liquid iron with the consistency of water. The inner core, made of very pure, solid iron, rotates along with the outer core, dragging the Earth’s magnetic field with them.

The Earth is getting pulled and tugged at regular periods, but we observe a difference in the way the Earth responds to these tugs and pulls and what we predict,’ Buffett said. ‘One of the ways you could explain that is by having some dissipation in the vicinity of the core-mantle boundary as the fluid moves back and forth relative to the mantle. But the viscosity of the fluid core is comparable to water, and having water slosh back and forth relative to a rigid mantle wasn’t going to produce the kinds of dissipation we needed to see.’

He hit on another way the rotating core could dissipate energy: via electrical drag.

Based on experiments Jeanloz had performed on the chemistry of rocks at the high temperatures and pressures characteristic of the core-mantle boundary, Buffett suggested that silicon-containing minerals would float to the top of the liquid outer core, carrying iron with it. Together they would form an iron-rich, porous sediment at the mantle boundary that would stick to the mantle, settling into depressions.

Because the Earth’s core rotates about a slightly different axis than the mantle (due to the tug of the Sun and Moon), the core’s magnetic field is dragged through the mantle, passing unhindered because the mantle does not conduct electricity. The porous, iron-containing sediment stuck to the mantle, however, would resist the rotation of the magnetic field, creating just enough tug to perturb the Earth’s rotation.

As the core rotates it sweeps the magnetic field with it, which easily slips through the mantle with no resistance,’ said Buffett. ‘But if the bottom of the mantle has conductivity, then it’s not so easy to slip the magnetic field lines through the mantle. The magnetic field tends to stretch and shear or pull out right across the interface. That generates currents, and those currents damp out the motion and create the kind of dissipation we need to explain this lag in response.’

Support for the idea that a thin layer of iron-rich silicates may be plastered to the underside of the mantle came from the work of Arizona State University’s Garnero and his colleagues, who use seismic waves to probe the mantle and core. They had observed very thin layers at the core-mantle boundary in which seismic waves slow to a crawl. Using Buffett’s ideas, Garnero modeled what a thin silicate layer would do to seismic waves and found agreement with the data.

In one of the popular models, created by Gary Glatzmaier and Paul Roberts, the dynamo is powered mainly by the growth of the inner core as light elements get excluded and float up through liquid iron, driving convection that powers the dynamo,’ Buffett said. ‘If this idea about sediments is right, the sediments would add a component to drive flow from the top down. This is going to have a pretty important effect on the style of fluid motions in the core, and even in the way in which the magnetic field gets generated.’
