Twitter

Many Internet forums have carried discussion of the Electric Universe hypothesis. Much of that discussion has added more confusion than clarity, due to common misunderstandings of the electrical principles. Here we invite participants to discuss their experiences and to summarize questions that have yet to be answered.

Twitter

Post by mavensage » Fri Sep 25, 2009 8:43 am

I've looked in the FAQ and couldn't find anywhere more appropriate to post this.

I was wondering if it was possible or even useful for a Twitter account to be set up so that when there is a new TPOD or Thunderblog that a tweet could put out? I think some (including myself) would stay more involved if they were notified in such a way about new content. It would also be a good place to post about new books or Youtube videos, etc.

Have any of the admins considered this? Would it be too much work?

I think there was at some point a notion of setting up an RSS feed. But things are currently a bit more, shall we say, hard-coded HTML. So, there would have to be some kind of switch to an automated CMS software for content generation (at least if it was being done in a truly automated way). I'm sure that if someone was interested in setting up their own Twitter account and then forwarding links to TPODs / Thunderblogs via that, there would probably be some kind of an audience for it. Even if it was unofficial.

I have just started posting the TPOD, links to thunderbolts articles, forum postings and other EU stuff every day on twitter and one of the people I have spoken to is ..... mavensage :) Although from the other non thunderbolts EU and non EU stuff that i also post it would be good if we had official real thunderbolts tweets.

If anyone else does use twitter and wants to help spread the Electric Universe Theory then my my user name on it is Elec_Universe

And if the person who is writing the TPOD could sum up the whole article in in an informative and catchy way in about 80-100 characters that would really help!

Well Matt, you finally gave me an excuse to sign on to Twitter and try it out for myself.

So what do I see when I sign in on my first trip in to Twitter??

A very sad pair of grey shorts! >.<

(You know what I'm talking about, Matt... )

twitter and helpful tweet apps like tweetdeck etc

Post by MattEU » Wed Oct 28, 2009 3:12 pm

Hello Mike and lol :)

Gave you a tweet then realised you might have posted here

If you want some helpful apps for twitter then try these for size

http://tweetdeck.com/beta/
Once you are follow a few people it can get too much using the normal twitter web page. This is not only easy on the eye but allows you to group people. Once you are folowing a few busy twitters you will never not be able to use tweetdeck. It also explains how people can have and follow hundreds of people. Literally priceless as it is free.

http://www.twitlonger.com/
Allows you to post paragraphs or pages of important stuff if 140 characters aint enough - the tweet still appears as a total of 140 characters but it is comprised of the starting part of the first sentance and a short automatic URL at the end that links to your long post

http://www.bigtweet.com/
this allows you to post slightly longer posts (up to 240 characters) but is different to twitlonger

http://bit.ly/
sign up for this - automatically shortens long URLs but if you sign up for an account it keeps stats and info on them. bit geeky but fun to view. you can then use it with other apps like tweetdeck etc.

There are lots of others out there, hopefully others can tell us what they use and find helpful

And for everyone who uses twitter, is not of a delicate nature and wants a laugh, you need to follow #shitmydadsays

If anyone uses twitter or signs up and wants to promote the EU on there, then perhaps you might want to post your twitter name down here so we can follow and RT important stuff
