Sungrazers

Hundreds of TPODs have been published since the summer of 2004. In particular, we invite discussion of present and recent TPODs, perhaps with additional links to earlier TPOD pages. Suggestions for future pages will be welcome. Effective TPOD drafts will be MORE than welcome and could be your opportunity to become a more active part of the Thunderbolts team.

Sungrazers

Very interesting piece, especially:
Astronomers at the time discounted any relationship between the two events because of the size differential between the comet and the Sun.
If you visit the SOHO website every sungrazing comet featured seems to elicit the same response from the Sun...a massive CME!

Check out the helical structure in the CME right at the end of this video

Cheers!

Good catch on this!

I'd watched several of the videos myself, and apparently I missed this the first time I went through them.

The very brief (yet gigantic) helical shape of the CME you pointed out is unmistakable once you look for it.
