Hundreds of TPODs have been published since the summer of 2004. In particular, we invite discussion of present and recent TPODs, perhaps with additional links to earlier TPOD pages. Suggestions for future pages will be welcome. Effective TPOD drafts will be MORE than welcome and could be your opportunity to become a more active part of the Thunderbolts team.

Aphrodite's Blazing Mane

In JPL's
large image of
Sacajawea Patera caldera on Venus, you can clearly see some short chains of smaller craters along the upper edge of the caldera.
Doesn't it look like the long semicircular faults to the left of the caldera are composed of hundreds/thousands of smaller crater chains? Or is this just a pixelated effect of the image itself?

Those are crater chains at certain locations. The enlargement does look like pixelation, but the multiple faults could be discharge trackway effects. It's also possible that the faults are "crazing" from the heat.
