The 24-hour dwell time of exposure to pressurized gas establishes 'atomic memory' according to the influence of a specific resonant temperature calibrated to the rest frequency signature of the target element. The instant this induced equilibrium within the metal atoms becomes destabilized by the quantum trapping event, the previously instilled resonant diameter of the metal atoms is preserved by the rapid atomic deformation and forced recombination of protons, neutrons and electrons of the absorbed gases to form the much heavier target element.

A stressed system is not normal, so a system would generally tend to return to a normal state, but only if so enabled.
