People Born With Some Morality

What is a human being? What is life? Can science give us reliable answers to such questions? The electricity of life. The meaning of human consciousness. Are we alone? Are the traditional contests between science and religion still relevant? Does the word "spirit" still hold meaning today?

"Doubt is not an agreeable condition, but certainty is an absurd one."

Dont watch youtube.

But morality if you are born with it can only come from the soul.

Morality is the ancient argument of genealogy vs. environment. (I learned a lot from the 3 Stooges--it was one of their themes) All persons are born with a universal moral standard, but their conscience sometimes becomes seared by their environment.

JOHN 1:9 “That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” This verse is speaking of Jesus, who was in the beginning with God. Light is not visible, but makes visible to our senses anything it touches. Jesus touches every child brought into this world.

Every child is born conscience of the existence of God. “Con” used as a prefix means to “join together”. “Science” refers to the accumulation of “knowledge or data”. Conscience therefore implies universal knowledge. I believe, because it was my experience, that at some point we curse the God that created us (like we do our parents at some point) and become carnal creatures separated from God. Since God is a Spirit, we must be born again in Spirit to reestablish our relationship--we need our heart of stone circumcised, to expose the most sensitive part of our bodies, into a heart of flesh.

The evidence of universal knowledge, or conscience, is universal adherence to basic laws: Thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, etc.... God’s laws are written in our hearts, but modified by us to accuse or else to excuse one another. Our conscience limits how far we modify God’s universal laws.

Atheism is another evidence of conscience, or universal knowledge. According to Wikipedia, only 2% of Americans identify themselves as atheists. Although they do not aknowledge the God that created them, they are no more immoral than believers. Like the old Country and Western song goes, “the only difference between sinners and saints, ones going to heaven, the other one ain’t”.

"Morality" can develop from self-interest. Ayn Rand thought very highly of it. As for "top down" morality, socialism has done untold damage in history.

Morality is a learned behavior, while symbiosis frequently occurs naturally. Chuck Yeager did not believe in "the right stuff." One might have the eyesight, reflexes, etc. for a given task, but a skill such as flying takes training and practice. One isn't "born with it."

Metrya, I agree that self-interest is a powerful tool that shapes our moral code. However, morality is a human quality not shared with the plant and animal kingdom. Behavior without conscience regard as to its virtue is natural (symbiosis) or learned behavior. Morality is the conscience internalization of the distinction between good and evil behavior. Failure to follow our moral code convicts our conscience and we feel guilt.

Morality. The word implies a law. What is moral is moral by a law that defines it. I think this law is implied universal. What is moral is good, and what is immoral, is bad. So there is a universal understanding of good and bad conduct, in a general sense. We are born with it.

I tend to view "morals" as consensus social behavior. Because, what's "moral" in one societal setting is sometimes completely "immoral" in another. On the other hand, I view "ethics" as being a more relevant, universaly intuitively-driven sentient concept.

The concepts of "good" versus "bad" or "evil" are 100% human, and don't exist anywhere outside of human perception.

More accurate/appropriate descriptions might include, "sustainable" versus " unsustainable," or "pleasant" versus "unpleasant."
It's all about perception.

Jay, There are 2 basic types of law: Common Law and Statute Law. Common Law, also known as Natural Law or The Law of Nations, exists in republics and between sovereign nations, and is the law of a free, sovereign, individually responsible people. I compare it to adults vs children. Adults are supposedly responsible for their actions. If an adult does damage to another's property, he will make it right. Children are not responsible so rules are made to keep them in check; hence, Statute Law defining good and evil. Every home has its own rules, as do nations.

Morals by consensus is created Statute Law, the law of irresponsible children. Common Law is not created, it is discovered by the study of nature, and can be very harsh. I remember getting my hands pecked every time I stole an egg from a hen.

In 1933 the American States all went bankrupt and became democracies vs republics. Before 1933 it was against the Common Law to kill someone. After 1933, it was against Section 130 of the New York State Penal Code. Citizens in a Democracy are subjects--in a Republic: sovereigns.

Requiring rules made by others to determine good and evil is evidence that a people is irresponsible.
