Re: global warming
Hendrik Svensmark's book, The Chilling Stars, is a great forensic read, putting 2 and 3 together with people's help from diverse specialties. It basically gets into how cosmic rays affect our climate (and weather) and when and why we encounter more or less of them, and the interaction between the Sun's cycles and Earth's magnetosphere in modulating cosmic ray incidence. It has some mainstream views about the cosmos, agreed, but that does not materially affect the fact that experiments, measurements and observations have led to an intriguing and plausible hypothesis that weather specialists and climatologists should take heed of. [Note: not all products of "the media" are necessarily bad, as exemplified by this book. Just watch out for the pseudosciences and the self-serving masters of the specialized guilds in science.]
AGW is but a blip on what is not an abnormal temperature variation during an interglacial cooling period. As pointed out above, humans' desire to create fire with petrochemicals leads more to pollution and consequent health and esthetic costs than to planetary warming.

After researching both sides of the man made global warming argument for over seven years for three or four hours a day, and seeing all the predictions of disaster come to nothing on close inspection of the science, and the revelations of data corruption by the 'warmist' side increasing with ever increasing speed, the reason for the initial theory is obvious, see

Still waiting for Gore to debate Monkton... or hey... anyone... or hey even just answer a question...
I'm increasingly suspect, when the majority of the legislation being proposed in Oz (even from the greens) has NO SUNSET CLAUSE whatsoever. Yep that's right... we will be locked into a 'warming tax', even if the pacific freezes over. Some common sense still has it's place when formalizing specifics of policy legislation... layers of taxation are being applied with a one-way ratchet..... This is sliding under every-ones eyes, with the usual emotive appeals.. "but think of the polar bears".
I'm all for saving polar bears, but hey... if it turns out that these climate WMDs don't exist (again), do i get back all my cash? It seems, particularly in Australia, with industry corporations and heavy polluters being granted 90%+ exemption for the introductory 'phase in' period, us stoopid plebs are bearing the short term brunt of the 'test case' scenario.
Yep that's right... The coal keeps burning, but the plebs have to hand over their coin.

I can't say that i subscribe to people actually desiring to wipe out the population, i don't think the pollies are bright enough to conjure up a plan as complex and dark that. They are clearly puppets who are convinced they are going to be the ones to 'save the day'. As KRS-one says... if you have a real complaint you need to find the 'franchise owner'. Follow the money.

Some common sense when drafting legislation please. Wake Up!There is no evidence that man is causing global warming, no evidence that the natural warming we have experienced is dangerous or even unusual, and no chance that politicians can control the climate.
It is thus essential that every piece of global warming legislation is subjected to an annual cost-benefit analysis and a sunset clause which triggers repeal within five years, or sooner once it becomes obvious to all that man made global warming is not a problem.

Following the money in the case of AGW will eventually lead to the premiere consultants for AGW policy world-wide, The Club Of Rome.Jarvamundo wrote:...

As of April 1st of this year the Secretary General for the CoR is Ian Johnson. Mr. Johnson is quite an accomplished man, he is the Chair of the GLOBE International Commission on Land Use Change and Ecosystems, Senior Adviser to the UNFCCC, Member of the Swedish Commission on Climate Change and Development, Senior Adviser to the President of IFAD and Adviser to several governments including Chile and the Netherlands. He is also Chairman of a carbon market research and ratings company, Idea Carbon in London.
So where does Mr. Johnson come from?
Well he spent over twenty five years with the World Bank in various executive level management roles.
What is the main programme of the Club of Rome today?
"A New Path for World Development" focusing on 5 key areas:
1. Environment and Resources
2. Globalisation
3. World Development
4. Social Transformation
5. Peace and Security
http://www.clubofrome.org/eng/home/
But of course the CoR is just one of the many heads of the AGW beast and the influences of groups like Earth First and Earth Action can't be neglected. And of course the Earth Charter Initiative co-Chaired by Steven Rockefeller is another big one with lots of political clout.
http://www.earthcharterinaction.org/content/
As Julian Braggins pointed out in that link members of all of these groups have made statements about how the world would be a better place if humanity was greatly reduced or completely exterminated, or how they dream about coming back as killer viruses to kill people, or how we need to exercise "mortality control" to bring humanity into harmony with nature. Many practice cult like Gaia theory religious beliefs.
Whether or not the politicians share those views or are planning something evil I know for a fact that I do not like the idea of people who have espoused those kinds of views providing consultation on any governmental policy in my country.
The difference between a Creationist and a believer in the Big Bang is that the Creationists admit they are operating on blind faith... Big Bang believers call their blind faith "theoretical mathematical variables" and claim to be scientists rather than the theologists they really are.

Re: global warming
In regard to the goal of "Globalisation", some would like to lower the US standard of living to match that of other countries, perhaps while raising that of the lowest countries a bit. Does anyone else see that happening?
I consider the story I recently heard from a Chinese lady whose family lives here now. She has a brother who remains in China and whose lifestyle has risen quite a bit. She said that his apartment in China is better than the home she and her family rent here in the US. She said she doesn't know where he got the money he is spending on his apartment, car, etc.
I keep thinking that the brother's lifestyle rise has been funded by debt, much as Americans' were for so many years, until the bottom dropped out not that long ago.
It seems to me that it's almost like a huge chunk of the American economy was extracted and transported to China.

That is the goal of groups like the Club of Rome and it's affiliates, they want to de-industrialize most of the world - especially the U.S.ElecGeekMom wrote:In regard to the goal of "Globalisation", some would like to lower the US standard of living to match that of other countries, perhaps while raising that of the lowest countries a bit. Take these chilling words delivered a long time ago -
(If the wealthy industrialized civilizations are posing a serious problem for the planet...)
"Isn't the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse?
Isn't it our responsibility to bring that about?"
The prophetic words of one Maurice Strong, a member of Club of Rome, former Head of the UN Environment Programme, Chief Policy Advisor to Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the Rio Earth Summit, co-author (with Gorbachev) of the Earth Charter, co-author of the Kyoto Protocol, founder of the Earth Council, and much more.

global warming
How can it be global warming if the mean average global temperature has been cooling since 2001? And the fact that global warming is based almost entirely on extremely flawed computer models that have been consistently wrong since they've been used. How can you people buy this garbage?

Hi musuhasy,
Preaching to the choir much? This is the thunderbolts forum, people here know what bullshit comes out of mainstream science and what a crock AGW is.
As for an EU perspective, weather is mostly influenced by our sun, even in ways not fully understood yet. It is safe to say that climate patterns are cyclical in some way. EU theory also provides clues to more sudden climate temperature spikes and drops (globally and or locally).

Daniel

I just have to ask, Musuhasy- *where* did you pick up the idea that people here bought into the whole manmade climate change stuff? I'm truly curious...

New Climate Science Book: "SLAYING THE SKY DRAGON"
This new work, although not a "mad idea," does indicate that a fundamental portion of the anthropogenic global warming theory is false: the notion that our planet, and others, undergo a "greenhouse effect."
I am especially interested in this new book because of the allegedly complementary notion that planet Venus has and is undergoing a "runaway greenhoue effect." It is not.
I opened a recent oped as follows:
"Tompkins County will soon long for the good old days of “global warming.” Earth is entering a cooling phase unrelated to carbon dioxide. But the fundraisers exposed by the United Nations Climategate have now admitted that these natural climate cycles have no positive correlation to human activity. "
http://links.veronicachapman.com/CLIMATEGATE-IJ.pdf
Lake Cayuga, in Ithaca, New York is currently freezing-over earlier than in decades!
The authors were very generous and I am credited with editing this ebook, soon to be hard-copy, of SLAYING THE SKY DRAGON:

http://www.amazon.com/Slaying-Sky-Drago ... B004DNWJN6
When the portent of this book was merely discussed at the so-called university level, the following was the result:

We're already working on the second edition.

Cheap solution to reduce CO2? Plant more trees! (the amount trees destroyed in the last 150 years!)
Why are all climate warming discussions devoid of facts of mass destruction and poisoning of nature?
Btw does the book include any references to the suns coronal mass ejections and their influence on the solar planets climates?

global warming
Surfing the Internet, there are way too many websites talking about stopping global warming and fighting its causes and consequences. Few of them list specific campaigns to achieve this, though, so I wanted to make a list —not of organizations— of initiatives towards the reduction of pollution or stopping the global warming threat. Which do you know? Can you help me build a list?
