Great example of the productive use of adult stem cells.
I understand that no disease cures have yet been developed from the use of embryonic stem cells.

"Cure" is probably an overstatement... Just saying. But definitely a marked improvement was noted in several trials apparently. Though this seems generally to be for folks with damaged corneas, as opposed to other types of blindness... Macular degeneration, astigmatism, near-sightedness, etc.
Still, shows some promise. One wonders whether they need immune suppression or other such things as with transplants... OR did the stem cells come from the same person as they went back into / onto?

The government is trying to end that, they're trying to label your stem cells drugs!junglelord wrote:Came from the same person and were harvested from the healty eye.

Pretty cool.
Stem cells are going to be a pretty standard treatment in the very near future... We can see some really outstanding effects from their use... heck you can rebuild a heart... or re-connect severed nerves.. etc.
I say use both... If only to not WASTE the frozen zygotes currently sitting in liquid nitrogen waiting to be thrown away..

How about ... hospitals save your Placental Stem Cells, and Cord from you when you are born, and you have this back up in Cryo for anything which goes amiss in your lifetime, stashed away with your SSN at the time of birth. New Industry, new medicine, new under ground storage system, ... more.
When you pass, your cord and etc go to family or can be willed to science or charity. Soon we have a great and diverse set of DNA Stem cells (how many babies a day?).
We could make automated PCR machines which you just recline into, have your frozen cells brought up and copied enough times for the issue, and put in your body while you take a short nap ... maybe longer for greater trauma.
Or use the Adult Cells Method .. what ever is called for.
All done in the automated recovery machine ... no troubles, minimal chance for errors, quick service, potential species saving places in case of global catastrophe. These could be put online sooner using the adult stem cell option. We could start remaking the face of medicine sooner rather than later!
They have to be significantly underground to save money on Cryo cost and to prevent EM DNA re-writing. ...

I am glad for a positive opinion, Thank you.
I have posted this here and there for years ... but it does not ever seem to reach the correct ears for consideration.
If you have any ideas of where to send it ... please send it ... China and South America are so far ahead of us using stem cells that people travel there from the US for this type of treatment. Denying it to US people for whatever AMA/Big Pharma reasons ... is just not nice, and WORSE ... it is putting us behind overall.
The broken Washington seems to be in anti-US hands I think ... some days ... days when I allow myself to think about politics. ...

Re: Stem Cells on Contact Lens Cure Blindness in 1 Month
I am sorry, but i couldnt resist.
Here are the three laws of thermodynamics.. with a few words changed.
Here are the three laws of thermodynamics.. with a few words changed.
First law:
Health can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change forms.
In any process in an isolated system, the total health remains the same.
For a lifetime cycle the net health supplied to the body equals the net health care done by the body.
Second law:
The decay of an isolated body consisting of two regions of space, isolated from one another, each in health
equilibrium in itself, but not in equilibrium with each other, will, when the isolation that separates the
two regions is broken, so that the two regions become able to exchange matter or health, tend to increase
over time, approaching a maximum value when the jointly communicating system reaches health equilibrium.
In a simple manner, the second law states "health systems have a tendency to increase their decay rather
than decrease it." This can also be stated as "health can spontaneously flow from a healthy region to a less healthy region, but not the other way around."
Third Law:
As life approaches absolute zero, the decay of a system approaches a constant minimum.
Briefly, this postulates that decay is health dependent and results in the formulation of the idea of death.
