The Schumann Resonance

Beyond the boundaries of established science an avalanche of exotic ideas compete for our attention. Experts tell us that these ideas should not be permitted to take up the time of working scientists, and for the most part they are surely correct. But what about the gems in the rubble pile? By what ground-rules might we bring extraordinary new possibilities to light?

The Casimir Effect is the creation of photons and electrons via the planck distance or less, between two plates...
So that when you pray and your hands are ever so close together, it creates a Casimir Effect. This effects the aether and can capture angular momentum to create light and matter with mass. That is the Key. Our minds and our hands are a device to create light via prayer with our hands ever so close together. I would debate anyone to prove that wrong.

So now the goal is to produce matter and light knowing that this is how it works.
I am going to make fish and bread....yes I will...I will gather the sea of angular momentum and encapsulate it with the aether via my consciousness and I will create light....

Sonic Entrainment
http://www.healingsounds.com/articles/s ... inment.asp
Sound can be understood as being rhythmic. Sound takes the form of waves, which are measured in cycles per second (hertz or hz). This periodicity is rhythmic in nature. Each cycle of a wave may be recognized as a pulse of sound.

Entrainment is an aspect of sound that is closely related to rhythms and the way these rhythms affect us. It is a phenomenon of sound in which the powerful rhythmic vibrations of one object will cause the less powerful vibrations of another object to lock in step and oscillate at the first object's rate. This phenomenon of nature has to do with the conservation of energy. It seems that nature finds it more economical in terms of energy to have periodic events that are close enough in frequency to occur in phase or in step with each other.

Entrainment is actually an aspect of resonance. Resonance may be defined as the frequency at which an object most naturally wants to vibrate. One object may set another object into motion if it shares the same resonant frequency.

Entrainment, on the other hand, seems to be active. With entrainment you are changing the natural oscillatory patterns of one object and replacing them with the different oscillatory patterns of another object. You are actively changing the vibrations (the frequency or rhythm) of one object to another rate.

Our brain waves pulsate and oscillate at particular frequencies that can be measured, just like sound waves, in cycles per second. There are four basic delineations of different brain wave states, based upon the cycles per second of the brain. They are:
Beta waves-from 14 to 20 hz. They are found in our normal waking state of consciousness. Beta waves are present when our focus of attention is on activities of the external world.

Alpha waves-from 8 to 13 hz. They occur when we daydream and are often associated with a state of meditation. Alpha waves become stronger and more regular when our eyes are closed.

Theta waves-from 4 to 7 hz. They are found in states of high creativity and have been equated to states of consciousness found in much shamanic work. Theta waves also occur in state of deep meditation and sleep.

Delta waves-from .5 to 3 hz. They occur in states of deep sleep or unconsciousness. Some of the newer brain wave work indicates that a state of deep meditation produces Delta waves in conscious individuals.

Two other delineations of brain-wave activity have been noted by some researches:
High Beta-from 23 to 33 hz. They are associated with hyperactivity and some types of anxiety.

K Complex-over 33 hz. They usually occur in short bursts and are often associated with the "aha" moments, when there is a sudden integration of ideas or experiences.

Orion Infrasound Pyramid at Resonance
http://www.humanresonance.org/pyramid.html
The limestone blocks of the Orion pyramids consist of mostly calcite mineral, whose structure can be triangular and octahedral in various forms. Each of the Giza pyramids is apparently designed as the top half of an octahedron, monumental formations of calcite.

Research of J. Davidovits into ancient geopolymers has demonstrated through chemical X-ray analysis that the casing stones of the Giza pyramids are synthetic, being of lower density than any quarried stone due to trapped air bubbles and consisting of 85-90% calcite with other exotic mineral constituents like opal CT, hydroxy-apatite and silico-aluminates. Note that the synthetic stones are of high piezoelectric crystalline content.

Recent acoustic resonance experiments have illuminated a connection between the phi ratio and a nonlinear acoustic standing wave structure. Cervenka, Bednarik and Konicek at the Czech Technical University in Prague have modeled the structure of a nonlinear standing wave excited in a cylindrical resonator. When the standing wave is driven into high amplitude, the nonlinear effects will couple energy from low to high frequency modes. This increase in harmonics can create a shockwave, diminishing the quality of the resonator dramatically.

The interaction of acoustic waves at some fixed frequencies without the energy losses in the higher harmonics is of considerable interest in acoustics. Such interaction creates the possibility of direct transformation of coherent sound at the given frequency by sound of another frequency without an electro-magnetic energy source. For a region of three modes with given angular frequencies, if the sum of two of them is equal to the remaining one, the interactions of these modes can be obtained from the non-homogenous Burgers equation for nonlinear standing waves.

The phi ratio describes the relative proportions of the three frequencies that stimulate the nonlinear standing wave and is also apparent in the modeled distribution of acoustic pressure along the resonant cavity which results. The coherent nonlinear structure was achieved through periodic stimulation of a medium of precise geometric boundaries designed to induce the interaction of three different resonant modes in the ratio of phi.

This standing wave structure informs the phi geometry of the Orion pyramids, elucidated by the superimposition of the pattern onto a cross-section of the Great Pyramid taken along the North-South axis. The high-amplitude transduction of the piezoelectric limestone of the pyramids creates an electromagnetic field around the structures, the movement of electrons becoming toriodal or donut-shaped.

The base length of the Great Pyramid informs the fundamental resonant tone created by the structures. Each base side of the pyramids has roughly been calculated at 760’, creating a fundamental frequency of about 1.5 hz when the pyramids are stimulated into high amplitude. The periodic pulsation of the pyramids operating at resonance creates a Fibonacci standing waveset centered on the 760’ wavelength bounded by the base of the pyramid. The angles of the standing waves exactly correspond to the slope of the pyramid’s faces: in the phi angle of 51.85 degrees. This baseline frequency of 1.5 hz has been described as the Tri-thalamic entrainment frequency shown to synchronize the pulsation of the hypothalamus, pineal and pituitary gland into a unified functioning. This frequency is also the lowest frequency of Schumann Resonance, thus the function of the pyramids may indeed be to shift the fundamental frequency of the Earth down from its fluctuations near 7.3 hz to the tri-thalamic frequency of 1.5 hz.

This resonance structure is recognized as a solid-state global oscillator that functions in wavelengths of pure consciousness itself, entraining the human mind through redistribution and focusing of the global mind. Indigenous cultures across the globe recognize the Earth as a sentient being in itself, and as consciousness has a frequency that can be measured as the EEG, then the frequencies of Schumann Resonance can be understood as the vital pulse of Earth.
Ancient wisdom passed on through the traditions of the Yaqui and Toltec cultures of present-day Mexico overtly describe the Earth’s emanations and the corresponding alignment of the emanations of humans, a notion described by modern science as the Frequency Following Response. The pineal gland contains microcrystalline calcite biomineralizations that transduce frequencies of consciousness.

The internal chambers of the Great Pyramid are constructed of massive rose granite blocks cut with precise right angles and perfectly planed faces, brought from the nearest granite quarry in Aswan directly to the south. Strong similarities exist between the polygonal stonemasonry of the Andes and the pre-Egyptian Giza region, specifically the common surface glazing of quartz and perfectly rendered complex geometries, suggesting an identical advanced solar technology was used in the complex stoneworks.

Rose granite was used in the construction of the internal chambers because of its resonant properties. The quartz matrix of the granite stones is like a hall of mirrors with billions of parallel faces reflecting energy. The effect of this encasement in granite is that the airspaces can be given harmonic dimensions to specify the wavelengths, which will resonate through the formation of standing waves. The dimensions of the upper chamber reflect a 1:2 ratio, allowing standing waves of interger multiples to store acoustic energy. The interaction of these slightly offset resonant frequencies was most strongly felt while inside the granite box, creating a resounding beat frequency that closely matches the human heartbeat.

The HeartMath Institute has shown a regulated heart rate to be crucial to the formation of a coherent electromagnetic field of the heart, and to allow intentional relaxation of the DNA helix that is associated with positive emotions. The direct correlation between the stimulated beat frequencies of the granite box and a healthy infant heartbeat suggest the chambers’ design purpose.

The ascending shafts are directly aligned to the geographic North and South poles, having been specifically designed as receivers of the lowest frequencies of infrasound at 0.5 hz that align precisely to the shaft openings.

A balanced, full-spectrum infrasound environment has been shown to stimulate both emotional relaxation and DNA helical structural relaxation, or "denaturation". Vibrational research in Russia has demonstrated a nonlocal mode of DNA communication through an omnipresent field. The interaction has often been described as holographic and based on nonlinear coupling of DNA with electromagnetic fields.

Pyramid Double Helix
http://keelynet.com/unclass/hardy1.htm
Imagine three pyramids, the ones on the left and right are identical with smooth sides. The pyramid in the middle is a stepped pyramid commonly called a Ziggurat. All three pyramids have a shaft leading from the base down underground. These vertical shafts all connect to a common horizontal shaft. The walls of these shafts and the corridor were covered with these mystery tiles.

The pyramids on the left and right were normal pyramids while the center one was a ziggurat (stepped). Now if energy was in fact somehow received or transmitted by such a stepped pyramid, it would function as a lens commonly termed a FRESNEL. Therefore, it appeared to be some form of SCALAR INTERFEROMETER with the left and right pyramids acting as either transmitters or receivers and the center acting as a concentrating lens or targeting lens.

These tiles lined the connecting corridors between all three pyramids and would seem to be some form of channel for very high intensity energy.

They cite a mysterious channel in one large room of Cheops which would perfectly fit the Ark. But the best twist yet is a recessed chamber which is cut into the wall in such a fashion that the Ark would fit directly in the largest lower space. That chamber is stepped in a pyramid type fashion also and is marked with SPIRALLING SCORCH marks that run to the top of the chamber.

Mary and Dean believe that the Ark was charged and placed into this recessed chamber. When the Ark was triggered to release its accumulated energy, it discharged upwards and formed the spiralling configuration that is now seen as the scorch marks on the wall.

The scanned image shows something quite fascinating with regard to such a comparison of the Ark (Tesla Coil) placed in a pyramid structure to produce this Double Helix spiralling energy emanating from the tip. The Tesla coil is placed so that the electrical emission occurs at the 2/3's power point of the pyramid.

Lizzie, Excellent links , and sort of harmonic flow to them.
especially,
http://www.humanresonance.org/pyramid.html

If you look at the picture of the pyramid sited upon the circulation centre points, then visualise churchs and cathedrals as been sited exactly the same, with the points centres been used as surveying parameters.
the geometry varies , and the actual points are often exterior to the actual church structure, in England there is often just one such point left with a construction upon it, they are high pole like stones with polygon tiered steps or square steps, the tread of the steps will always be 13 inchs, the surveying of the pyramids etc will have been a cake walk, I can survey out a cathedral in half an hour, I can do this even where churchs have been destroyed or moved from.
The materials of the walls and colums are picked as per that link, resonant chambers, built to DIVINE measure, the walls then rise to give perfect solfeggio resonance to match the floor plan, You therefore SEE perfection, Hear perfection and FEEL perfection, then you are hooked into the xian religion, and are told to do as you are instructed, or else you will go out of the south doorway to hell , that is a meandering flow that always leads to a large inward spiral point.
This elaborate cross in Banbury is only a few miles from Me here, the lady on the white horse will be Rhiannon, and it will be the female white side of duality, I have seen this white, and it is undescribable.
The crosses on top of the market crosses will be later xian , imposing their dominance.

Unless of course you as an individual understand fully what you can do on your own to create and sustain that “Perfection”; and you don’t need any intermediaries, just your Mind Force. :D And the truth shall set us free?

Hmm. What spirals inward eventually reaches that center point, goes through that point, and starts the outward spiral. :D

Hi Lizzie,
You wrote:
Ah but I quite agree with you. I said that facetiously. You don't need any technology; just as you said; you need to know yourself; you either go with the flow or you don't; and it's all of an individual nature. I would imagine that less than a handful of people ever truly know themselves.
(I knew you were being facetious). The highlighted part is most probably correct but there are a lot more who actually make the effort. It aint quick and it aint easy; how much easier it is to blame others or look to others for the answers. Re-read Arc-us' post on the previous page and contemplate upon it, or, better still, read Alan Watts instead of these second-rate journalistic types you currently read. We make our reality - our thoughts and especially our actions, are seeds and the Universe or the Dao or whatever you wish to call it, will endeavour to provide an environment for those seeds to grow. It's not just a case of thinking positively, though that helps. One should ignore (not react to)that which one doesn't like and extract the maximum amount of pleasure out that which one does like. It has to come from the heart (where the mind lives - see below).

Here's a bit of synchronicity for you from something I've just read:
[This is Philosophy (a lady) speaking to Boethius who is banged up pending execution]
'If any man makes search for truth with all his penetration, and would be led astray by no deceiving paths, let him turn upon himself the light of an inward gaze, let him bend by force the long-drawn wanderings of his thoughts into one circle; let him tell surely to his soul, that he has, thrust away within the treasures of his mind, all that he labours to acquire without. Then shall that truth, which now was hid in error's darkening cloud, shine forth more clear than Phoebus's self. For the body, though it brings material mass which breeds forgetfulness, has never driven forth all light from the mind. The seed of truth does surely cling within, and can be roused as a spark by the fanning of philosophy. For if it is not so, how do ye men make answers true of your own instinct when teachers question you? Is it not that the quick spark of truth lies buried in the heart's low depths?

Lovely little book. And by the way, every ancient book I read regardless of what culture or tradition it comes from, says just what is in the above quoted passage. No aliens, no evil cabals, no uber-gadgets, just a vision of a humanity that is capable of anything it can imagine and then some. And all based on empirical evidence. We've done it before and we can (and will) do it again.

The Photon Belt
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/unive ... ones_6.htm
In 1961 science discovered, by means of satellites, a photon belt encircling the Pleiades. This photon belt circles the Pleiadian system at an absolute right angle to its orbital planes. As our sun orbits the Pleiades once every 25,860 years, it reaches the midpoint of the photon belt approximately every 12,500 years. It requires some 2,000 years to traverse it, meaning that after departing this realm, another 10,500 years pass before our Solar System enters it again.

Before going any further, we should be mindful of the fact that this particular cycle is nestled within a number of greater cycles. What distinguishes this particular cycle from all its previous occurrences is that it culminates, together with all the other cycles of which it is but a part--including the overall cycle of 206 million years, in one single point of convergence. This is also called the Harmonic Convergence.

In 1962 we entered the sphere of influence of this photon belt. Calculations approximate the year of the actual entry into its mainstream to be 2011. This correlates with the time when the universe reaches its point of maximum expansion. The East familiarizes us with the contraction and expansion rhythm of the universe as the Inbreath and Outbreath of God--each breath covering a time span (in this density) in the vicinity of 11,000 years. It is no coincidence that this time frame corresponds with the Grand Cycles, the orbit of our sun around the central sun Alcione.

The transition into super-consciousness, [also called] the second Coming of Christ, is to occur at the precise moment of suspension of movement between expansion and contraction, going parallel with the entry into the radiation of the photon belt. This energy is also referred to as the Manasic Vibration or Radiation. Astrophysical calculations, based on the sun's speed traveling through space (29 km/s) -- and Earth's own movement -- indicate that we will enter the photon belt at a speed of 208,800 km/h. The actual entry of Earth into the Manasic Vibration will occur in the twinkling of an eye.

The energy of the photon belt is of etheric and spiritual nature, not physical, but it interacts with and affects the physical. The 10,500 years of darkness between the 2000-year periods of light afford incarnating Man repeatedly his spiritual evolution. As the majority of humans become forgetful of their Divine source and purpose during these Earthly sojourns, the periods of Light serve a dual purpose. They represent a sorting-out process, gathering matured souls into the Light of the Spirit and affording the weaker, just maturing souls a stabilization period of respite and an opportunity for further spiritual growth.
The Photon Belt
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/unive ... ton%20Belt
This belt of photon particles was first discovered in the 1960's in vicinity of the Pleiades by satellite instrumentation. A photon particle is the result of a collision between an anti-electron or positron and an electron. These split second collisions cause the charges of the particles to cancel and the resultant mass is converted into energy in the form of photons.

If the results of the observations of Jose Comas Sola and Paul Otto Hesse about the Pleiades are correct, our star (the Sun) is in a 24000 year cycle with the Pleiadean Photon Belt. At present we are poised to enter the belt and pass through the 2000 light year manasic ring before the end of this century.

There is also the added stress placed on the upper atmosphere which could have aided the formation of the ozone holes. The Sun has responded by an increase in solar flare activity and in a general stellar cooling. It must be remembered that the null zone is the place where the photon energy in the belt is created. It is a place where all particles of matter and anti-matter are annihilated. Hence, there is a vast pressure on our solar system. This pressure builds up gradually and does not climb in an exponential manner until we pass into the zone. We are now in the position of near entry into the belt (entry will occur sometime before the end of this decade).

The Photon belt consists of three major elements. First, there is the aforementioned null zone. This zone is where the particles of matter and antimatter collide to form the belt's immense photon streams. This area is also where the electromagnetic fields of this star system will be nullified. Gravitational fields and related photon energy fields will be altered. This alteration will cause all atoms and molecules in this star system to be unusually excited. This process will alter our state of consciousness and force us to look at our universe in new and unique ways.

The next segment is a flux field between the photon stream and the inner edge of the null zone. Here, we will encounter a space/time distortion that has the possibility to hurl our system into another and higher dimension. After we have entered the photon stream proper, we will be able to utilize photon beam energy and inter dimensional space travel of all types imaginable will become possible. It could well be the "Golden Age" that the Bible and other religious tracts have spoken about. Biblical and various tribal myths throughout this planet talk of a period in which men were different than they are now and we had a bridge to the stars. Such a time of vast change is upon us. This period of change will last for about 2000 years.

The universe hierarchy levels found in The Book Of Abraham
http://www.blazelabs.com/f-u-free.asp
In the previous paper I have proposed how the records for the variable measurements of big G can be used to show the actual hierarchical system of our universe. It is quite a simple system being made up of multiple levels of astronomical bodies revolving about central massive energetic bodies. Summarising, the Earth spins around the sun, the solar system spins around the centre of our galaxy Sagittarius A*, our galaxy spins around a yet unknown centre of galaxies, and this centre of galaxies spins around the central core of the universe. I have numbered these levels Macrospin level 1 to 5. Only 4 spin levels (1 to 4) have a central core orbiting another level. Level 5 has a unique body, the core of the universe, the centre of all existence which spins about its own axis. Surprisingly enough, we found mention of such a system in documents dating back to 509BC, which were apparently copies of originals which had been passed over from the days of Abraham, living at about 2000BC. Not only were these astronomical bodies mentioned, but also named, with some details about their periodicity and energy levels.

Modern astronomy will agree with this model up to the Sagittarius A level. Beyond this hierarchy level, no one knows anything, even if most researchers would agree that they cannot exclude the possibility of the existence of higher hierarchy levels and that the highest known level could in fact be rotating about some yet unknown centre of the universe. Also, another interesting fact is the mentioning of the energy medium for each hierarchy level. Today, we call this in a generalised way by 'vacuum', but as described in many parts of my website, this vacuum is also known to be made up of energy itself. It is therefore obvious that the vacuum energy, or zero point energy, or the ratio of T/S for each hierarchy level is different for each level, that is for each level referred to as spheres of creation, and this supports my point that all known physical parameters which I showed to be based on ratios of T and S, vary with their position on the universe. One must stop and think how our modern astronomy and the whole science would change once we accept the fact that the speed of light changes quite abruptly while passing from one hierarchy level to the next. We are like fish viewing the outside world from under water. Not only the speed of light, but all physical constants we are used to know as 'constants of free space'.

Anthanasius Kircher.
http://www.mjt.org/exhibits/Knots.html
Mundus Subturraneus.
Following a two-year visit to Sicily, where he witnessed the March 1638 eruptions of Aetna and Stromboli, Kircher became increasingly fascinated with geological and meteorological phenomena. Upon his return to Naples, he had himself lowered into the active crater of
Vesuvius to make firsthand observations. From his investigations and research, Kircher concluded that continually circulating channels of fire (for which volcanoes act as occasionally emerging safety valves) and water honeycombed the Earth's interior, and that these, in
conjunction with the wind, were responsible for all weather and geological events.
These ideas formed the thesis of Kircher's most popularly successful and renowned book, Mundus Subturraneus. While primarily a geological textbook, this massive and copiously illustrated volume contained discussions of gravity, the moon, the sun, eclipses, ocean currents, hydraulics, saline analyses, fossils & petrifaction, remains of giants, subterranean beasts and demons, poisons, metallurgy, the Universal Seed, the generation of insects, astrological medicine and fireworks, as well as a lengthy attack on the alchemy of Paracelsus, which Kircher disdains in favor of chymiotechnicus, or 'true chemistry'. While considering the Philosopher's stone 'mystic and fictitious', Kircher himself claimed to have performed palingenisis, resuscitating a plant from its ashes and displaying the results in the Museo Kircheriano until cold weather shattered its glass display vessel.
Phonurgia nova.
When rival polymath Sir Samuel Morland, FRS (1625-95), published a paper in the January 1672 issue of Philosophical transactions in which he laid spurious claim to the invention of the speaking-trumpet, Kircher was moved to set the record straight in Phonurgia nova, the
first published book devoted entirely to acoustics. Kircher detailed his use of the 'tuba stentorophonica' to summon his congregation to St. Eustace's shrine at Mentorella for many years prior to Morland's claim, and annotated his account with testimonials from James Alban Gibbs, Gaspar Schott, and others. In addition, Kircher had written extensively on amplifying megaphones almost a quarter century earlier in Musurgia Universalis. Having routed this pretender, Kircher proceeds to reiterate and elaborate his findings from Musurgia, discussing the science of echoes and amplification, and presenting designs for many ingenious sound inventions, including talking statues, an aeolian tuba, eavesdropping devices, and a myriad of horns and megaphones. Kircher believed a helical form was most efficacious for amplification, and speaking- trumpets like the ones reproduced here would often reach
immense proportions, towering over the height of a man.
Magnes, sive de arte Magnetica.
To illustrate his belief in the magnetic relationship between the sun and the vegetable kingdom, Kircher designed this heliotropic sunflower clock by attaching a sunflower to a cork and floating it in a reservoir of water. As the blossom rotated to face the sun, a pointer through its center indicated the time on the inner side of a suspended ring.
Kircher claimed that it didn't work well because enclosing it in a glass case would block the sun's attractive force, and that it was 'therefore susceptible to inaccuracies due to the wind'. Further, "when the sunlight was weak, and itself was as if withered and worn out, it ran slow, seeking rest." Descartes misread Magnes, interpreting Kircher's descriptions as referring to one of his earlier speculations attributing heliotropic timekeeping properties to a sunflower seed floating in a marked cup. Although Kircher was, in fact, describing experiments with other heliotropic plant matter, Descartes seized on his own misinterpretation to launch a vituperative attack on Kircher's scientific abilities, referring to the gentle Jesuit as 'possessed of an aberrant imagination' and 'more quacksalver than savant'. Descartes' authority in the developing scientific community was such that Kircher's reputation was to suffer irreparable damage as a result. Even Kircher's longtime supporter Peiresc became suspicious. Nevertheless, Kircher regularly maintained a version of his sunflower clock in his museum, modifying it occasionally and demonstrating its accurate functioning on more than one occasion. From Magnes, "Added to this is the fact that a clock of this sort can barely last one month, even though cared for with the greatest effort; thus nothing is perfect in every aspect."
Magnes, sive de Arte Magnetica.
Magnes, Kircher's second and most significant book on magnetic phenomena, consists of three sections- the first describing the nature and properties of magnets, the second on practical applications including navigation and mechanical curiosities, and finally a philosophical discussion on how magnetism and analogous forces conspire to define all of nature. It is the second section, containing charts and tables compiled by Kircher from reports solicited from Jesuit scholars throughout the world that generated intense interest in the
book. Detailing a wealth of data on variations in magnetic readings across longitude, latitude, and time, its success resulted in its being reprinted twice within the next few years. At the same time, Magnes generated considerable controversy in the nascent international
scientific community for its dismissal of key concepts from predecessors such as Johann Kepler and William Gilbert. In one instance, Kepler, expanding on Gilbert's speculation, described the sun as a huge magnet, whose rotation on its axis caused the earth and
planets (themselves smaller magnets) to move around it in orbits.
Kircher disproved this by experimenting with actual magnets, and observing that rotation of a large central magnet actually caused a sympathetic axial rotation in its otherwise stationary satellites. On the basis of this phenomenon, Kircher devised a device for 'magnetic
hydromancy' in which small wax figures, embedded with magnets and suspended in water-filled globes, could be made to spell out specific messages or forecasts from symbols and letters printed on the surface of their vessels. Controlled by a hand-cranked rotating central magnet, this mechanically simulated divination device, bearing the Hermetic motto 'Nature Rejoices in Nature', epitomizes Kircher's unique blend of skepticism towards paranormal activities and delight in the underlying mysteries of seemingly mundane reality.
Turris Babel.
The last of his books to be published during his lifetime, Turris Babel was Kircher's attempt to reconstruct the specifics surrounding the famous biblical story, recounted in Genesis 10-11, of Nimrod's attempt to build a tower that reached the heavens. Apart from his interest in
ancient civilizations and biblical historicism, the story was of particular interest to Kircher as an account of the origin of languages, and, by Kircher's extension, of polytheism. The second half of Turris is devoted to Kircher's theories on linguistics. The first section, similar to his Arca Noë of four years earlier, contains an imaginative speculative expansion of the Tower of Babel story in light of Kircher's knowledge of history, geography, and physics. This model
illustrates Kircher's proof that Nimrod's ambition was intrinsically flawed: in order to reach the nearest heavenly body; the Moon, the tower would have to be 178,672 miles high, comprised of over three million tons of matter. The uneven distribution of the Earth's mass would tip the balance of the planet and move it from its position at the center of the universe, resulting in a cataclysmic disruption in the order of nature.

Musurgia Universalis.
Kircher's best-remembered work is also his second largest. Musurgia Universalis is an exhaustive compendium of musical knowledge at the transition point between sacred renaissance polyphony and secular Baroque music. Much of Musurgia is dedicated to a survey of contemporary music, including the first published mention of the baroque 'doctrine of the affections' in which music is ideally analogous to human emotions. Many surviving compositions by Frescobaldi, Froberger and other baroque masters are due to Kircher's
extensive transcriptions and reproductions of scores in Musurgia.
Kircher speculates on the music of early cultures and reproduces a melody he claimed to have seen on a manuscript in Sicily dating back to ancient Greece, making it (if authentic) the oldest surviving example of musical notation. A large part of the book is devoted to the history of instrumentation, including the anatomy of voice and hearing, and an extensive theory on acoustics entitled 'Magia Phonocamptica, sive de Echo', in which he described sound as 'the ape of light'. Kircher professes the Boethian concept of musical harmonies' mathematical correspondences within the body, the heavens, and the natural world, and concludes with a discussion of the unheard music of the nine angelic choirs and the Holy Trinity. Kircher's research in music and acoustics led to many innovations and inventions, particularly in the area of amplification and sound design, which he would expand upon in his Phonurgia nova (Kempten 1673).
Other devices created the illusion of talking statuary, hydraulically powered mechanical music-playing automata, the aeolian harp (which was revived and venerated by the English romantic poets as a model of divine inspiration), the hearing aid, and the arca musarithmica: a
primitive mechanical computer that would compose simple random compositions, as well as write messages in cipher, calculate the date of Easter in any year, and design fortifications. Surviving examples of this device are held by the Museum of the History of Science in
Florence and the Pepys Library at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Sphinx Mystagoga.
Kircher's fascination with the lost culture and language of the ancient Egyptians was kindled shortly after his ordination into the priesthood. Upon entering his Tertianship at Speier in 1628, he encountered reproductions of hieroglyphs from the Sistine Obelisk in Horwart von
Hohenburg's Thesaurus. Throughout his travels and during his tenure in Rome, he sought every opportunity to inspect artifacts and gather information relating to the Pharaonic eras, which he considered the root of all non-Christian culture and religious philosophy. In 1672 a
Mssr. De Four excavated and transported a sarcophagus from Memphis to Lyons, from whence he wrote to Kircher asking him to translate the hieroglyphic inscriptions on the casket and on the mummy's wrappings. The result was Sphinx Mystagoga, the last of Kircher's six books on
Egyptology. In this volume, Kircher discusses Egyptian burial practices, metempsychosis and reincarnation, and translates the Memphis inscriptions and a number of others according to the principles set out in what was perhaps Kircher's major work, Oedipus Aegyptiacus (3 vols.
Rome, 1652-4). Although Kircher had earlier successfully unraveled the Coptic language, he refused to believe the hieroglyphs contained anything of less import than 'the highest mysteries of Divinity'. In spite of the resulting inaccuracies, Kircher's 'symbolic' position
continued to hold some authority until Jean Francois Champollion's successful decipherment of the Rosetta Stone at the turn of the 19th century.
Magneticum Naturae Regnum.
Alongside Egyptology, Kircher's most abiding scholarly interest was the study of magnetism. Impressed by William Gilbert's De Magnete (1600), Kircher began his researches while enjoying the patronage of the Elector- Archbishop of Mainz at his court in Aschaffenburg. Kircher's first book, Ars Magnesia (Wurzburg 1631) compiled the results from his experiments with historical anecdotes and an argument for for magnetism as a ratification of the authority of God, kings, and the priesthood.
This latter philosophical premise indicates the breadth of influence Kircher would eventually attribute to magnetic forces. In his third and final book on the subject, Magneticum Naturae Regnum, Kircher summarized and reasserted his findings, attributing phenomena as mundane as tastes and preferences, or as cosmic as gravitation, to the forces of magnetism. Ultimately, Kircher saw magnetic attraction and repulsion as the lingua franca of all creation, governing friendship, love, sympathy, hatred, chemical reactions, planetary action,
heliotropic and selenitropic plants, medicinal plants and stones, the wind, hydraulics, the tides, musical harmony; even the nature of God himself, whom Kircher deemed 'the Central Magnet of the Universe'. As Science verges on a workable unified field theory, Kircher's intuitive philosophical understanding of the interdependency of all things seems less and less naive. In the words of Valentine Worth: 'All of nature in its awful vastness and incomprehensible complexity is in the end interrelated - worlds within worlds within worlds: the seen and the unseen - the physical and the immaterial are all connected - each exerting influence on the next - bound, as it were, by chains of analogy - magnetic chains. Every decision, every action mirrors, ripples, reflects and echoes throughout the whole of creation. The world is indeed bound with secret knots.'
Typical Catholic Renaissance man -takes the ideas of pagans (Pythagoras, Empedocles, alchemists, Hermeticists, Qabalists etc) and claims them for his own, all in the name of science. One wonders what ancient texts he had access to which don't.
If I have the least bit of knowledge
I will follow the great Way alone
and fear nothing but being sidetracked.
The great Way is simple
but people delight in complexity.
