This really challenges theories of how super massive black holes form. How could this form so 'early' in the life of the universe:

LCDM proponents make such a big deal about mathematical modelling, but when their own theory fails those mathematical models and predictions, they simply bury their collective heads in the sand. What absolute hypocrisy.

So how did this black hole get so big so fast?A team of astronomers, including two from MIT, has detected the most distant supermassive black hole ever observed. The black hole sits in the center of an ultrabright quasar, the light of which was emitted just 690 million years after the Big Bang.
Puzzling indeed. It's amazing how many observations simply defy LCDM theory. I can't think of any physics theory that has failed as many big budget "tests" in the lab, nor one that has failed so many observational "tests". What's the point of making "predictions' and supposedly "testing" a model if no such "test" can lead to falsification? LCDM is just a *pitiful* theory. Not only is most of it composed of placeholder terms for human ignorance, the rest is mostly "pseudoscience", and it fails pretty much every possible "test" that I can think of. Were it not for the CMB, LCDM proponents would have nothing positive to discuss about LCDM at all.
