Plasma - UV Cycles - Vitamin D - Disease

Hello,

As you may know I believe that artificial magnetic fields or chaotic natural geomagnetic storms interfere with circadian rhythms (via cryptochrome) and can cause problems in the circadian rhythm of vitamin D leading to disease states. Breast cancer is one such example, for exposure to magnetic fields has been linked to breast cancer.

Long-term exposure to magnetic fields and the risks of Alzheimer's disease and breast cancer: Further biological research

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/ar ... 8009000078

Objective: Extremely low frequency (ELF) and radio frequency (RF) magnetic fields (MFs) pervade our environment. Whether or not these magnetic fields are associated with increased risk of serious diseases, e.g., cancers and Alzheimer's disease, is thus important when developing a rational public policy. The Bioinitiative Report was an effort by internationally recognized scientists who have spent significant time investigating the biological consequences of exposures to these magnetic fields to address this question. Our objective was to provide an unbiased review of the current knowledge and to provide our general and specific conclusions. Results: The evidence indicates that long-term significant occupational exposure to ELF MF may certainly increase the risk of both Alzheimer's disease and breast cancer. There is now evidence that two relevant biological processes (increased production of amyloid beta and decreased production of melatonin) are influenced by high long-term ELF MF exposure that may lead to Alzheimer's disease. There is further evidence that one of these biological processes (decreased melatonin production) may also lead to breast cancer. Finally, there is evidence that exposures to RF MF and ELF MF have similar biological consequences.

Conclusion: It is important to mitigate ELF and RF MF exposures through equipment design changes and environmental placement of electrical equipment, e.g., AC/DC transformers. Further research related to these proposed and other biological processes is required.

It is known that geomagnetic storms interfere with the hormone melatonin so it is no stretch to infer that the hormone vitmain D can equally also be disrupted.;

Geomagnetic activity and human melatonin metabolite excretion

Abstract

Elevated geomagnetic activity has been linked with human psychological, neurological and cardiovascular outcomes, and altered melatonin production has been implicated as an underlying mechanism to explain these effects. The relationship between geomagnetic activity and overnight excretion of the melatonin metabolite, 6-hydroxymelatonin sulfate (6-OHMS), was evaluated in a population of 153 male electric utility workers. The effect of geomagnetic activity combined with either 60 Hz magnetic field or ambient light exposures was also evaluated. Elevated equivalent amplitudes (USGS, Boulder, CO) were associated with lower adjusted mean nocturnal 6-OHMS/cr concentrations and reduced total overnight 6-OHMS excretion, consistent with a previous study. Time intervals in which geomagnetic activity predicted the largest differences in mean 6-OHMS excretion generally occurred between 15- and 33-h prior to urine sample collection. These times coincide with key periods of melatonin regulation and production, respectively, suggesting that geomagnetic activity may play a role in the entrainment of human melatonin rhythms.

However, there is also evidence magnetic fields can also lead to diabetes…

Dirty Electricity Elevates Blood Sugar Among Electrically Sensitive Diabetics and May Explain Brittle Diabetes

Transient electromagnetic fields (dirty electricity), in the kilohertz range on electrical wiring, may be contributing to elevated blood sugar levels among diabetics and prediabetics. By closely following plasma glucose levels in four Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics, we find that they responded directly to the amount of dirty electricity in their environment. In an electromagnetically clean environment, Type 1 diabetics require less insulin and Type 2 diabetics have lower levels of plasma glucose. Dirty electricity, generated by electronic equipment and wireless devices, is ubiquitous in the environment. Exercise on a treadmill, which produces dirty electricity, increases plasma glucose. These findings may explain why brittle diabetics have difficulty regulating blood sugar. Based on estimates of people who suffer from symptoms of electrical hypersensitivity (3–35%), as many as 5–60 million diabetics worldwide may be affected. Exposure to electromagnetic pollution in its various forms may account for higher plasma glucose levels and may contribute to the misdiagnosis of diabetes. Reducing exposure to electromagnetic pollution by avoidance or with specially designed GS filters may enable some diabetics to better regulate their blood sugar with less medication and borderline or pre-diabetics to remain non diabetic longer.

This becomes important not only from the aspect of “dirty electricity” but as we enter the chaotic solar period as the sun reaches a turning point in the ~100 year Gleissberg solar cycle. We are rapidly approaching the minima in this cycle and a chaotic solar period should begin in the next nine years.

This has ramifications for the planet and its biology;

I believe more research is necessary in regards to the circadian rhythm of vitamin D as related to chaotic magnetic field disturbance and disease incidence. The circadian rhythms taking cues from magneto sensing cryptochrome in the eyes, brain and skin which affects hormone cycling.

Add to this natural circadian disruption of vitamin D (all hormones) to the fact sunscreen did not exist in 1917 and lifestyles were very different today, the upcoming chaotic solar period could be disastrous in regards to vitamin D deficiency inspired disease.

This would be how plasma levels could impact disease levels.

The brief list provide in this article fails to show me a cause and effect relationship for EM fields and disease; IMAO it sounds like the idea is incorrectly associated. :idea:
What is the physiological mechanism of the "mal-EMF" ? Is it inducing current?

If the body is actually electrically influenced (likely), why not blame shoes for insulating our bodies from completing the natural grounding that our ancestors enjoyed as the real problem? :twisted: Oh, is it because we live longer that our ancestors, so I keep my shoes. :?:

The circadian rhythms should be expected to be strongly influenced by the environment, but that is so multifunctional it is hard to call out cause and effect relations of subtle things like EMF over the lifetime of the person. Also "long term exposure" is very vague idea. How can it be possible to find a population with no EMF LF/RF to study in comparison with the 21st century population?

Example of demonstrated cause and effect research:
There is a solid proposal of cytochrome C being influenced by the environment, especially visible and IR light from the sun. It is supported in decades of research in the use of LLLT (low level laser therapy) infra-red light at 4 known ideal frequencies, essentially giving a little boost to the final step of metabolism in the cell mitochondria. Thus sunlight is postulated by animal model and human study to speed healing. This fact lead to the creation of IR LED therapy devices used in NASA Skylab and US Navy subs to speed healing of injury in light poor low oxygen pressure environments.

That same sunlight can give a solid dose of UV which we know is not good to our DNA and provides an exposure to possible cancerous disease. And that same dose of sunlight enhances Vitamin D production.

What should we conclude about exposure to sunlight? :roll:

As Steve Martin said "Scientist have proven that saliva causes stomach cancer, but only when consumed in small doses over a long period of time."

Hello,

The resources listed are a starting point for discussuion not the total evidience.

Lots of evidence out there.

A chaotic solar period, after a deep minima will disturb the circadian rhythms for multiple years.

This is a starting point for a discussion. UVR ties into mental illness only through vitamin D deficiecny. So even though UVR peaks during chaotic periods the magnetic disruption prevents the proper use of the hormone.

tolenio » Mon Jun 20, 2011 11:02 am,

Your ideas seem to back up the main proposition of this book, " Magnetic reversals and Evolutionary Leaps, The True Origin of Species" by Robert W. Felix. www.iceagenow.info to obtain or read about.
He postulates that EUV and GCR bombardments from some solar cycles and super novas in our galaxy increase mutations enough to generate new species or great changes in existing ones, including extinctions. Plagues from new forms of virus and bacteria, new insects in plague proportions, and the vitamin D connection may well give even more weight to his ideas.
I read recently about electrical stimulation of seeds and eggs in some species has resulted in new, or revived ancestors of these species, sorry, no ref but a search for that should find it if you are interested.

Hello,

I would suggest that our DNA has evolved under a variable star for millions of years and survival adaptations to deal with varying climate under a variable star are built in to some degree.

Whether these adapations are keyed to UV variances, geomagnetic variances, or other, they would originate in the local variable star we live under.

I suspect these adaptations would be evident in sociological trends for if the DNA adaptation did not over ride sociology the adaptation would fail. It most likely does fail in some individuals, but as a whole drives trends.

First take the annual solar cycle. In the summer energy is widely available for animals. They have enough extra free energy to procreate and store fat for winter. When winter rolls around animals have to be conservative to get through the harsh winter environment. Many plants and animals are so conservative they will hibernate through the winter.

Now extend that annual solar cycle to the ~100 year Wolf-Gleissberg solar cycle and look for sociological trends.

Image

When in this timeline did the hippies emerge, with sociological trends towards free love, and liberated sexual behavior? They emerged during peak solar activity in the cycle.

When did the "tea party" emerge with sociological trends towards conservatism of resouces?

During the fast solar chaotic ramp up (1906-1940) we had both WWI and WWII;

Abstract
The functional characteristics variations during the magnetic storms were observed in both the healthy humans and in patients with cardio-vascular diseases as well as in cosmonauts at SOYUZ spacecraft and MIR station. These characteristics revealed a nonspecific adaptive stress reaction, which should be accompanied by the variations in the stress-hormone production rate. The neurohumoral regulation of the organism functions during the geomagnetic storms in a group of patients with cardio-vascular pathology and in a control group of healthy individuals were studied. The magnetic storm effect characterised of both the sick and healthy examines was the violated ratio of glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, namely increase of cortisone secretion (adrenal cortex hormone), as well as some tendency to the activation of sympathoadrenal system. Our investigations revealed also a suppressed production of melatonin (the pineal gland hormone) during the geomagnetic storm. These results are not in contradictions with the functional characteristics violation by the magnetic storms and correspond to the existence of adaptive stress reaction of the human organism to the geomagnetic field disturbances.

The frequency and depth of solar geomagnetic storms driving the DNA's adative stress response.

As you can see from this example of the annual solar cycle it ramps up faster than it trails off, and this correlates to a "chaotic solar period". Depending on how the ~100 year cycle ramps up will define how chaotic it is.

http://basiliochen.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/solar-cycle-21.gif

I stongly suspect that our DNA is adaptive to changing solar trends and this would be reflected in both physiology and sociology. Since neither peak or nadir is the optimal environment each will have some negative consequences, where the median would be omore optimal.

In sociological terms I suspect the approaching peak or nadir steers sociological trends for the period and following until the next shift slowly arrives. A ying, yang balance or wave effect.

As we approach this coming ~100 year solar minima in ~2022 we are seeing a chaotic climate variance around the globe from drought to flooding, moving towards more extreme weather. It would make perfect sense for human physiology and sociology to adapt to the coming climate change.

The wild card in the equation is sunscreen and sun avoidance behavior in humans. If adaptation lies in UV the adaptive process will be impacted. If the adaptive process lies in cryptochrome (magneto reception) all will be fine. If it isa combintion of UV and anything else it will also be impacted.

Keep in mind how we have changed since the last minima with both artifical magnetic fields and UV avoidance. This is an extreme variable that DNA may not be able to deal with well in the adaptive process.

I suspect that the deeper the DNA drives the conservatism in society the deeper and more chaotic the solar ramp up will be.

Regards,
Tom
