Royal colors (purple and gold)

What is a human being? What is life? Can science give us reliable answers to such questions? The electricity of life. The meaning of human consciousness. Are we alone? Are the traditional contests between science and religion still relevant? Does the word "spirit" still hold meaning today?

Royal colors (purple and gold)

Lord Byron informs us that:
The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,
And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.

Like the leaves of the forest when Summer is green,
That host with their banners at sunset were seen:
Like the leaves of the forest when Autumn hath blown,
That host on the morrow lay withered and strown.

For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed;
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

And there lay the steed with his nostril all wide,
But through it there rolled not the breath of his pride;
And the foam of his gasping lay white on the turf,
And cold as the spray of the rock-beating surf.

And there lay the rider distorted and pale,
With the dew on his brow, and the rust on his mail:
And the tents were all silent, the banners alone,
The lances unlifted, the trumpet unblown.

And the widows of Ashur are loud in their wail,
And the idols are broke in the temple of Baal;
And the might of the Gentile, unsmote by the sword,
Hath melted like snow in the glance of the Lord!
The standard explanations which you read as to why purple and gold might ever have been viewed as royal colors are pretty lame. More believable is that purple and then gold had been the primary colors of the Earth and the heavens in two of the previous ages which preceded ours:

Even more interesting than the royal colors are the Royals themselves!? How did they arise? Why did they arise? I mean, why would people choose to be governed by them? Of course you might say it wasn't a choice, but the people were coerced by force into obeying the Royals. But before the Royals reached the point of power that they could coerce people, some how they manipulated the people into practically worshipping them. Just look at the royal baby fiasco that unfolded worldwide recently!

When did people accept the Royals as being better than the rest of us? And why did these Royals arise in cultures separated from each other by space and time. Why show them the respect and fear?
Today is the yesterday of tomorrow.
