JREF founder James Randi is a global warming skeptic

Has science taken a wrong turn? If so, what corrections are needed? Chronicles of scientific misbehavior. The role of heretic-pioneers and forbidden questions in the sciences. Is peer review working? The perverse "consensus of leading scientists." Good public relations versus good science.

JREF founder James Randi is a global warming skeptic

Post by PersianPaladin » Wed Jan 26, 2011 10:34 am

JREF's James Randi made himself look like a fool for buying into a petition filled with bogus scientists. This amuses me.

For more on the "Oregon Petition", check it out here at SourceWatch:-

It is interesting that James Randi's forum so heavily criticises the EU theory, yet the founder of the website is an AGW skeptic. To me, the AGW theory is well proven (despite the recent controversy) and has far more empirical evidence than the mathematical hypotheticals in mainstream astronomy.

I've also learned this from Dr.Nafeez Ahmed (regarding ClimateGate):-

http://www.opednews.com/articles/The-Re ... 0-375.html
http://www.opednews.com/articles/The-Re ... 1-458.html

Dr.Ahmed is not an establishment person (or "in on the AGW conspiracy" as some claim). He's publically criticised the official story of 9/11 as well as the "war on terror" and also exposed links between Western intelligence agencies and Mujahideen groups before and even after 9/11. I trust him, and find his research to be very thorough.

Why do conservatives ignore that Global Warming is occuring at an unprecedented rate than ever before? Conservatives point out - correctly - that global warming has occured regularly in the past with periods of warming and cooling. They do however ignore one thing: the global warming that is now occuring is happening at an alarming and unprecedented rate, and all statistics show that the global warming is rising side by side with rising carbon dioxide emissions.

Scientists, including myself, do not buy into AGW. It is far from proven and its adherence commit a very basic logical fallacy. By all measures the Earth is in fact not heating up and most changes are solar in origin. Plants require CO2. There are fewer plants because there are fewer rainforests. In any case, even if AGW were true, and its not, the key to preventing it is not to reduce CO2 emmissions, its to plant more trees and restore the rain forests.

The difference between someone truly concerned about the environment and idiot global warming alarmists is the true person is more concerned with the trees and welcomes CO2 as a food bank for greater plant growth potential.

Before CO2, it was Freon. Now that "Freon" has been replaced with another chlorofluorocarbon, made by the same company that held the timed out patent on the original stuff, every thing is "OK" with this new (patented) refrigerant.

Question: Since the stuff is still chlorofluorocarbon, shouldn't it still damage the ionosphere and cause "global warming?"

Orrery is right on, on this one!

PS: The oceans absorb more CO2 than any change in man made CO2 can add to the environment. The flora-sphere really has to work to obtain its main food: CO2.
I sense a disturbance in the farce.

Bear in mind that this (OP) was one of Persian Paladin's first posts to this forum (11 days after arriving).... He/she has now seen the light and investigated the "claims" with a keen eye, and has updated his/her views on PPs personal blog.

I like PP's posts. He thinks well. He's open-minded, and tells it the way he sees it. He reads a lot of different things, so not a one-trick-pony. I learn stuff from him.

Oops, PP; hope you weren't listening...

Don't think it's the rain forests alone! We need to get the oceans healthy too! Not just the larger food fish, but we seriously need to restock the seas with phytoplanktons as well, and get a serious grip on sustainable aquaculture.

Think about it- it's the 21st Century, and we're still going out on the oceans like primitive hunter/gatherers! Where's the stewardship?? Fish farms are a necessity, no matter what some of the invested scientists have to say about the 'dangers' of aquaculture!
