I have never understood why people need the whole bloody world to be "in danger" to root for a more sustainable future. A lot of people are dying every year because of pollution. If current expasions of human activity keeps on going without cuting it down those numbers would get out of control. You do not need billions of dollars of "studies" and all of this circus to understand that pollution is bad. We learned this in the second grade for pete's sake.
It is blindingly obvious that we as a species need to develop a sustainable way of developing our society, if we care one bit about the whole idea of civilisation. Now it's just a political weapon used to push people around, divide the public and get a ton of votes and recognition.

That's why I personaly don't have a lot of faith in humanking on the long run.
