What is 'cold steam'? 'Cold steam is an undetected form of gaseous H20 mixed in with the other gases of the atmosphere that is purported to exist at temperatures lower than those indicated in the H2O Phase diagram:

What is the significance of 'cold steam'? 'Cold steam' is pivotal to meteorological models of storms. Specifically, it is critical to the process of convection in that it is purported to make parcels of air lighter as a consequence of the lower molecular weight of the H2O molecule (18) in comparison to that of the average air molecule (29).

Comprehensive List of Evidence Favoring the Existence of 'Cold Steam' in the Atmosphere:
1) The moisture in clear moist air in the atmosphere is often invisible. Gaseous H2O is invisible.

Is this evidence convincing? No. It is anecdotal. The fact that gaseous H2O is invisible is irrelevant in that it does not mean that an aerosol of suspended liquid H2O nanodroplets is not also invisible.

Comprehensive List of Evidence Opposing the Existence of Cold Steam in the Atmosphere:
1) The H2O phase diagram indicates that H2O is liquid at the ambient temperatures/pressures in the atmosphere.

Is this evidence convincing. Yes. It is based on hundreds of years of collective empirical evidence.

Is it possible that being suspended in air causes liquid nanodroplets of H2O to break into individual molecules producing gaseous H2O? In the sense that anything is possible we have to leave ourselves open to this possibility. But it seems unlikely in that it would have us assume that air contains properties that have never been detected. Therefore, it seems more likely that nanodroplets stay nanodroplets and don't turn gaseous at ambient temperatures in the atmosphere.

There is no 'cold steam' in earth's atmosphere. Meteorology's notion that storms are caused by the upwelling of warm, moist air is refuted in that parcels of moist air can only be heavier than parcels of dry air. See this for more:

How do we explain the widespread belief in 'cold steam'? Superstition, ignorance, and gullibility compounded by the fact that this notion dovetails with meteorological models that have popular appeal and that gain political support from the meteorolgical lobby which has a financial interest in maintaining the status quo.

The convection model of storm theory is hereby refuted.
