Dynamic Jupiter August 30, 2014 by Stephen Smith

Hundreds of TPODs have been published since the summer of 2004. In particular, we invite discussion of present and recent TPODs, perhaps with additional links to earlier TPOD pages. Suggestions for future pages will be welcome. Effective TPOD drafts will be MORE than welcome and could be your opportunity to become a more active part of the Thunderbolts team.

As the moon Io revolves though Jupiter’s electromagnetic fields, electrical power greater than 2 trillion watts is dissipated between them.
Why some rocky bodies, like Earth, Mercury, and Ganymede possess magnetic fields, while Venus, Mars, and most moons do not demands further investigation.
Could this be a result of intense electrical activity in the past.? :? thoughts?

Maybe!
A moving, rotating charged body would create a magnetic field insulating it from the surrounding plasma environment.
Wal Thornhill wrote:A rotating charged body will produce a dipolar magnetic field. Scientists discard this simple explanation because it is calculated for the Earth that the moving charge would have to constitute a current of a billion Amps, which implies a tremendously strong electric field at the Earth’s surface. But this simple electrostatic argument fails in a plasma environment. The electric field at the Earth’s surface reflects merely the difference in voltage between the Earth and its plasma sheath at the magnetospheric boundary with the solar wind. Like a bird sitting on a high-voltage transmission line, we are unaware of the electrification beneath our feet.

If that proposition is an explanation for the Earth's magnetic field, then that begs the question - from whence comes the Earth's charge?
It has been speculated upon, on various threads, by myself, Lloyd, Moses, and others - that the Earth's magnetic field or some portion thereof is remnant from it being immersed in a very different ambient electrical environment in the recent past. Then to some extent, the Earth is similar to a permanent magnet...which contrary to its' name, is not permanent. Thus explaining the observed decline in the strength of the Earth's magnetic field.
