Humanoid figure in Orion nebula

Hundreds of TPODs have been published since the summer of 2004. In particular, we invite discussion of present and recent TPODs, perhaps with additional links to earlier TPOD pages. Suggestions for future pages will be welcome. Effective TPOD drafts will be MORE than welcome and could be your opportunity to become a more active part of the Thunderbolts team.

Humanoid figure in Orion nebula

Post by popster1 » Tue Dec 30, 2008 8:59 pm

When I saw today's TPOD (Electric Fires of Creation, 30 Dec 2008) the thing that caught my eye was the human-like shape in the upper left. It's reminiscent of some of the rock art pictures described on this site.
I've lived long enough to see nearly everything I ever believed to be true disproved at least once.

I see it too... now that you mention it. Makes you wonder just what our ancestors saw way back when!?

I see it as more of a figure-eight, with a band of dust in a flat disk around the pinch in the middle. Beyond that (towards the bottom of the page) appreas to be a larger 'inverted bell' of plasma not as energetic as at the pinch.

I might go so far as to suggest that this is a galaxy being born? Dust being pulled in by the electromagnetic field around the z-pinch, double layers around each of the lobes, inner lobe and outer lobe. There are already formed stars in the cloud, but is it possible that a 'cloud full of stars' could go on to become a galaxy, rather than a galactic z-pinch that later expelled stars?

My apologies for my lack of artistic soul, but I'm curious if any of the theory specialists perceive that a galaxy can be born after it's stars are?
