The ribs are actually ripples on the bottom of a trench.
There are no other dogs but The Great Dog

Indeed, I remembered arc welding as well. However, a typical ripple formation in sputter erosion is more realistic.

Anyhow it looks like an ion beam was "walking" over the surface.

Very interesting Bomb 20, thank you, this was the type of phenomena I had in mind for the cause of these anomalies, so it's good to see some correlation with your sputtered surfaces caused by ion beams, albeit on a very different scale!

This was recently brought this to my attention. It is an article from 2014 that gives a brief summary of the Thunderbolts explanation for what we see on Mars. I have never heard of The Epoch Times and do not know anything about their interests or agenda. But it is interesting...
