If the Earth's core solidified
How would it impact the magnetic field? If Earth's magnetic field is created through Birkeland currents, would it even have any significant impact whatsoever?

Is it not solid? The liquid core is only a theory, and is open to question.

You would have Mars >3circl wrote:How would it impact the magnetic field? If Earth's magnetic field is created through Birkeland currents, would it even have any significant impact whatsoever?

The magnetosphere of Mars is far simpler and less extensive than that of the Earth
More solid is more conductive. As magnetic field lines cannot pass through electrically conductive objects (such as Mars), they drape themselves around the planet creating a magnetosphere, even if the planet does not necessarily have a global magnetic field.
It is not a dynamo effect, it depends on how much charge an object can recycle at any given time.

hi,
I guess there is not core in Earth.
I wrote few articles about Earth.
