Recently watched a youtube on the extinction associated with the Younger Dryas:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGbwzpQUtXk

Micro diamonds found in an ice layer at the time of the extinction is taken as proof of a meteorite impact being responsible for the extinction event. The impact sight is thought to be represented by crater found under the ice in northern Greenland. There are also micro glass beads associated with the micro diamonds and burn horizons found as far away as Texas. I believe these beads should be analyzed for fission tracks. If there are no fission tracks, the impact hypothesis remains. If there are fission tracks, it would point to a very very large CME or micro nova solar event as an alternative explanation.

Another extinction event occurred during the Oligocene. This event roughly corresponds to desert green glass found in SW Egypt.

The hypothesis is an air burst explosion from a meteorite or comet as there is no crater. There should be a burn horizon in Oligocene sediments preserved in North Africa some where. If found, the burn horizon should be sampled for micro diamonds and micro glass beads. The Oligocene extinction also occurred in oceans and N, America. Burn horizons should also be looked for and sampled in North America as well. If micro diamond and micro glass beads are found, the micro glass beads should be looked at for fission tracks, indicative of a solar event. If no fission tracks are present, perhaps there was multiple impacts and air bursts, similar to the Shoemaker Levi impacts on Jupiter. If fission tracks are present, it would indicate another very large solar event or very very large CME or "micro nova", and perhaps accompanying large plasma "lightening" that formed the green desert glass.

perhaps the Egyptian desert glass are fulgurites formed by mega lightening or plasma strikes associated with a large CME.

I’m not too sure if I have explicitly stated it either on this thread or elsewhere but my picture of Earth history is somewhat radical.

I do not accept the consensus geological timescale and the supposed climate/geographical conditions associated with imaginary time periods, for example the numerous so-called ice-ages that have supposedly occurred throughout Earth history.

I see Earth history as divided in two- a pre-cataclysmic period and a post-cataclysmic period.

The pre-cataclysm Earth with its different electrical environment manifesting as reduced surface gravity resembled an artist’s impression of an extrasolar ‘Earth-like’ planet. Earth’s surface was largely ‘flat’ with very little relief on a hemispheric sized ‘continent’ and was complimented by an ‘oceanic’ hemisphere.

The ‘continental’ hemisphere was a luxurious verdant abode to all life-forms, both living and extinct. The same was also true of life in the ‘oceanic’ hemisphere. There were no fossils, no record of a Darwinian ‘tree of life’, for all organic matter was constantly recycled. Humans were one life-form that lived during this period which they dimly remembered in their varying myths.

When the cataclysm or cataclysms struck ecosystems at the border of the ‘continental’ and ‘oceanic’ hemispheres perished, inhabitants deep in the interior of the ‘continental’ hemisphere and in the depths of the ‘oceanic’ hemisphere had a better chance of survival. Even so, any surviving surface dwelling mega-fauna and here I include dinosaurs, mammals and birds- struggled to survive in Earth’s new electrical environment with its increased surface gravity.

Writing in SIS Review 2003:1Scientific Dating Problems the Radiometric Dating of Earth’s Rocks’, the late David Salkeld wrote: “From its inception, radiometric dating has been too heavily influenced by exceptions deriving from Lyellian geology and Darwinian evolution. There is now sufficient evidence to dispute claims that almost all radiometric dates for Earth’s rocks are consistent with each other and with uniformitarian predictions…Terrestrial lightning is proposed as the agent producing radioactive isotopes within Earth’s rocks in the concentrations necessary to for radiocentres from which halos are generated. This novel hypothesis seems consistent with all relevant data but requires testing experimentally…” (David Salkeld concluded that ‘dates’ exceeding 100,000 years are suspect whilst those exceeding 1,000,000 years are “valueless”).

Lightning, then, is perfectly able to produce nuclear-binding effects at the Earth’s surface and certainly an extreme extraterrestrial event would produce conditions sufficient enough to alter Earth’s electrical environment, and induce massive electrical storms. It may well be that sand was formed by the mega-lightning you allude to.

Geologist Louis Hissink has written about just such a hypothesis- you may find of some interest:
