Yes, Hannes Alfven may be gone, but he is not forgotten.
Even so, with virtually every new observation, gravity and fusion are losing their power as explanatory concepts among NASA scientists. We cannot expect an immediate and wholesale revolution in science, but we can definitely appreciate that magnetic fields, jets, filaments and all the other concepts of plasma cosmology are gaining ground, however haltingly. Our ship finally comes in when we can quantify the charge density of celestial objects, first of all Sol. Until then, we must be content with small steps and little victories.

This is nothing more than indoctrination to magnetic reconnection, the next cosmological breakthrough that will introduce the electric in space to the world. look what we have discovered. It will convert the behavior of electrified plasma into a cause. The problem is that people now believe that electric currents are caused by magnetism, and only magnetism. This relegates both the Plasma Universe and Electric Universe theories as merely causes of their new cosmology. It is the past 100 years all over again with gravity slowly being replaced by magnetic forces and the electric fields they create.

Yes, we understand that it is movement of charged particles that creates the magnetic moment of all particles, and that moving charges create electric currents which create magnetic fields which confine the currents into filaments and enhance both the electric and magnetic fields. But I have seen it on the boards in my discussion of magnetism. They believe without doubt it is only movement in a magnetic field that creates electrical currents. Hence belief in frozen magnetic fields, reconnecting field lines, etc.

Welcome to the new cosmology of magnetic reconnection, soon to be theorized as the cause of the Big Bang.
