Comets and meteor showers

I just read an article about an upcoming meteor shower as the Earth enters the path of the comet Swift-Tuttle. I haven't yet purchased the new e-book Comet Electric though, but I'm wondering how the electrical model explains this trail of "small fragments". The convential model talks about grains and scales as if the comet is of ice or rock. Is dusty plasma the alternative explanation for this effect (the post comet meteor shower)?
